2:347 – Drinking The Kool-Aid
#faithbites #faithjourney drinking
Today I was deep in debate with s ok someone about being respectful and politics. At one point, I was accused of drinking the cnn Kool-Aid. At the same time, people the other side are accused of drinking the Kool-Aid. This is in reference to drinking poison ala the Jonestown Massacre.
You may wonder why I bring that up here. Often when people dont want to see your point of view, they accuse you of drinking the Kool-Aid, meaning you’ve bought in beyond all reason. We’ve talked about belief in God making no sense. In that case, yes, I’ve been heavily drinking of the faith. Because, we know his word is true and when used correctly spreads love, salvation, and forgiveness.
Scripture
- The sum of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting. – Psalm 119:160
- You are near, O LORD, And all Your commandments are truth. – Psalm 119:151
- And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new ” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” – Revelation 21:5
Reflection
God’s word is true and never changes. He speaks of love, salvation, forgiveness, and faith. These are principles that we should all get behind.
Those who don’t believe, think this is made up as if we’ve been drinking the kool-aid and gone mad.
We know what we believe. We know that God’s word is true and can be seen in all we do. We need to hold each other accountable in love, kindness, faith.
It’s hard when people say what you believe is wrong. Sometimes facts can prove you were wrong. In faith, those who work to do that, are either uniformed, or are tempted and trying to tempt others.
Stay true to His Word
Challenge
Know His word. Know the overall message of the Bible and stay true. This is the way to everlasting life, not to death as in drinking the Kool-Aid
Prayer
Lord, help us in these trying times. Times when facts are not facts, emotion overpowers evidence, and faith is seen as outdated. Remind us that your word is true and those who follow it will have everlasting life. In your name, Amen.
