2:237 – Quiet Please
#faithbites #faithjourney quiet
I’m a loud guy. I say my piece, I talk a lot, and am very loud. As I’ve been working on that over the years to be quieter. Some days, like today, my brain has had enough. Yelling kids, loud music, loud playing, loud TV make it hard to concentrate. I’m also a person who isn’t great at multitasking. I need to focus to complete the task at hand.
Have you ever had a day, when you just want quiet? Not necessarily being alone, just quiet. Every wonder why you grave quiet?
Scripture
- He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” – Psalm 46:10
- The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” – Exodus 14:14
- And to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, – 1 Thessalonians 4:11
Reflection
We often get in our own way. By talking constantly, by surrounding ourselves with noise, we don’t give God time to talk to us. We pray and ask for answers but if we are always in noise, then how can we listen. In our scriptures, he tells us to be still, be quiet, as he will fight for us.
When your brain is craving quiet time, it could be God preparing to lay some knowledge on you. It may just be the answers to your prayers.
Charge
Heed God’s call. Your body is responding to the need for quiet. Take some time away from the phones, tv, people, and everything to just listen. You will feel recharged and may just have a better insight into God’s plan.
Prayer
Lord, help us to listen better. Remind us that we need quiet time. We won’t miss out on anything going on. We need this time to be open to you and your word. Give us the rest you command of us. In your name, Amen.
