July 1 – Pain Can Be Useful
2:182 – Pain Can Be Useful

#faithbites #faithjourney pain

We have all been in pain. It’s one of those things that we can all share and relate too. I have been in pain, physically and mentally, the past six weeks worrying about a diagnosis and physical pain. Today, I received a non-cancer report. This is great news. I still have the pain, but no cancer.

Before I got the diagnosis, I was wondering what would happen if I got a bad diagnosis. If I only had x number of years or months left, what would I do? How would I change my life? What kept coming to mind was spending more time with my family. Making sure my family knew me, that I taught them as many lessons as possible, and that I could give them a positive legacy for the future. None of that requires a lot of money or extreme planning. It’s just using my time wisely.

God gave me this pain to reevaluate my life and how I am living. I’m doing pretty good but could do better. If I didn’t have this pain, I may not have reflected on this. God never misses an opportunity to teach us.

Scripture
  • I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.Psalm 32:8
  • He trains my hands for battle, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.Psalm 18:34
  • strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to continue in the faith. “We must endure many hardships,” they said, “to get into the kingdom of God.”Acts 14:22
Reflection

We know that God teaches us and strengthens us. I particular like Psalm 18:34. God prepares us for battle. He gives us the strength to bend bronze. That means we may go through hard times but he is there for us and gives us the tools to succeed.

Pain is no different. We all have that pain be it physical, emotional, spiritual, financial, or any other pain. If we didn’t experience this pain, would we strive for better things? Would we appreciate what we have if everything was perfect all the time?

We need to look at these pains as a chance to reflect. Why do we have these pains? Can we use it to be better children, friends, spouses, and Christians?

I’ve been in pain and still am. The test was excruciating but I have a diagnosis or a place to start. I won’t waste the reflection time I had and use that to better my relationships.

Charge

If you are suffering, get help. While you are getting help reflect on different outcomes. Don’t dwell but think about all options and how you would change your life. Then no matter what, change it. Use the opportunity to listen to God and follow what he wants.

Prayer

Lord, I ask for healing tonight for everyone coming through pain. Help us to heal physically, mentally, and spiritually. Be with us as we reflect on our pain and changes we may make in the future. Help us to enact the changes you want us to in order to be better at whatever you want us to be. Give us guidance and relief from our pain. We give you all the glory Lord. Thank you. Amen
