April 16 – Each Lesson You Don’t Learn Gets Harder
2:106 – Each Lesson You Don’t Learn Gets Harder

#faithbites #faithjourney lesson

Do any of you play those mindless games where you have to match objects and they disappear? After you do really well you get bonuses that make the levels easier, but when you fail you lose the bonuses. So now you are on a hard level without any bonuses and have to slog your way through it.

I’m finding life is like that. God gives us lessons to learn and when we don’t learn them, we get them again and again. But each time, they are harder and more intense than the time before.

Case in point. I’m an oversharer and like to talk to people. A person I work with isn’t and is very type A. I’ve had the lesson where my candor and fun nature isn’t appreciated. But I haven’t learned the lesson as I keep getting it and it gets harder each time. Part of it is who I am and part of it is who the other person is. But each time, I fail the lesson, I wonder why. I know God is trying to teach me, I’m just not picking up what he is putting down.

But have faith, fellow travelers, while the lessons get harder, Jesus’s love never fails.

Scripture
  • The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down. – Psalm 145:14
  • “You shall remember all the way which the LORD your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you, testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. – Deuteronomy 8:2
  • For You have tried us, O God; You have refined us as silver is refined. – Psalm 66:10
Reflection

God tests us. He tests us over and over and over and over again. (Did I get the point here?). He wants us to fall his commandments and his son. We are tested and let me tell you Satan tries to tempt us every day. He even tried to tempt Jesus (Matthew 4:1-11). God doesn’t test us to harm or punish us. His tests are to help us learn and grow so we can be better servants of the Lord. Satan tempts us to walk away from the Lord and lose eternal salvation. One is a test for growth one is a temptation for death.

What is hard for us is to know which is which. For me, it seems as a test, when it comes up over and over again, and it brings me down. It makes me think what I can do better to help the situation. I know when it’s temptation as it’s to better me at the expensive of someone or something else. It takes a lot of practice.

I hope that as my #faithjourney continues, I learn the lessons God wants me to learn, steer away from the temptations for the Devil, and share the love of Christ with everyone.

Charge

Are you finding yourself in the same or similar circumstances again and again? Maybe it’s God trying to teach you a lesson. Look at that situation and see what you can learn. Pray on it. Then come up with a plan of attack for next time. Once you learn that lesson, you will see it doesn’t come up again or if it doesn’t the intensity is much les.s

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank your for our trials and tests. Thank you for wanting to make us perfect in your image. Give us the strength and the knowledge to learn from these tests so that we can serve you. At the same time, help us to know a test from a temptation. Give us the wisdom to walk away from temptation and always hand in hand with you. In your name, Amen.
