2:81 – Faithbites The Podcast

A friend of mine is starting her own podcast. She wanted to record her voice and stories for her daughter for the day when she isn’t around. As we get older, our memories fade including the emotions, details, and circumstances. By making this podcast, she is keeping alive more of herself for her daughter and future generations than just pictures.

I have thought about what’s next for #faithbites. How long do I keep going? Do I change how I’m doing it? Maybe I should go the Podcast route to reach more people.

Old me, would have jumped into buying equipment and into production. The reason would be to get my name out there and be more famous. Time commitments be darned.

The new me, instead is thinking of why. Why did I originally start #faithbites? Is it for me or to serve God? What costs (time, relationships, money) would this entail? Is it my purpose or God’s purpose?

This is a question we all need to consider before starting something new or ending something we are already doing

Scripture

• We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28
• You, Lord, give perfect peace
  to those who keep their purpose firm
  and put their trust in you.
  Trust in the Lord forever;
  he will always protect us. – Isaiah 26:3-4
• All things are done according to God’s plan and decision; and God chose us to be his own people in union with Christ because of his own purpose, based on what he had decided from the very beginning – Ephesians 1:11

Reflection

God has a plan and a purpose for us. In our scriptures we see to trust God, that God has chosen us to be with him through Christ and that he has a plan for us. If we keep our faith and purpose firm, we won’t go astray.

How do we know if it’s for us or for God? We have to ask ourselves, why are we eating what we are doing or what we are thinking of doing? If the answer is to fulfill God’s plan, then it is probably part of the plan. If it’s about self fufillment, it’s probably not part of it. But only God can answer that. He answers us through prayer, if we listen.

So will I do a #faithbites podcast? Not right bow but maybe in the future. God has other plans for me right now. Need to finish the #RoadtoEdD first and see what is in His plans.

Charge

Are you contemplating starting something new? Maybe you aren’t sure if it’s for the right reasons. Turn it over to God. He will help you see your true motivations and help you make your decision.

Prayer

Gracious God, bless my friends who are starting new endeavors. Give them the perseverance to succeed in their efforts. Help all of us who are contemplating new ideas or activities. Give us clear vision to know if those activities support your plan. In your gracious name, Amen.
