March 4 – Equality – Can We Be Transfigured?
2:62 – Equality – Can We Be Transfigured?

#faithbites #faithjourney equality

Today is Transfiguration Sunday. It is the day wen Jesus and some of his disciples has a “mountaintop experience”. The disciples saw Jesus transfigured and talking with Moses and Elijah. As our Pastor said, I can’t image that conversation but would love to have been there to hear it. In that moment, the Old and New Testament came together, and the disciples were radically altered forever. Can we be radically altered or transfigured this day? Can we, through Christ, see all of his children as equals?

Scripture
  • For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. – Deuteronomy 10:17
  • For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, – Ephesians 2:14
  • May the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you rule the peoples with equity
and guide the nations of the earth. – Psalm 67:4
Reflection

In some #faithbites there is a lot of Sol, in this one, not much. The reason is the Lord is very clear here. Here is the Lord of all peoples and all nations. There is nothing that say they have to believe in him for them to be his children. We believe that salvation is only through Christ, but that doesn’t mean that all others are not his children nor do they deserve to be loved as we love the father.

We also see that God is the God of all Gods and has no partiality. He made the two groups (believes and non-believers, Greeks and the Jewish People) one. The only thing we can by dividing and separating is sin and more division.

On the radio this morning, I heard life is not a zero sum game. All can win at life. By you helping someone up and treating them as a brother or sister, you aren’t lowered. In fact, all are raised. We can all be transfigured this Sunday and treat all with love, respect, and equality under the Lord.

Charge

Do love the Lord with all your heart, all your mind, and all your soul? Do you love your neighbors (all people) with all your heart, all your mind, and all your soul? If so, then lets share it. Help someone who started the race behind you. Give someone a step up to help them out. Remind others that helping others is our commandment (Deuteronomy 15:7-11). This is a new reality, a transfigured reality for you. When you walk down the mountain, find someone to walk the journey with you.

Prayer

Almighty Father, thank you for your Word. Thank you for sharing how your son was transfigured this day on the mount. Remind us all that his transfiguration changed not only him but his disciples and prepared them for their mission. Help us all to be transfigured so we can treat all your children with equity, love, and respect. Amen.
