211 – The Truth, The Whole Truth, And Nothing But The Half-Truth
#FaithBites #FaithJourney Half-truths
In many aspects of life, I’m pretty any going. I accept so much from pejole as I believe that is how God made them. The one thing,I hate is lies or half-truths. Outright lies have a way of being found out more easily than half truths. For instance, in one 244 character tweet, the President allegedly had 7 half-truths. (Thst was just one example of many who do it). How many times in a day do you tell a half-truths? You may not even think k you are when you are.
For instance, if you are having a bad day, and someone asks you how you are,do you tell them or say you are fine, good,or ok?that’s a half-truth.
I do this all the time and am working on it. I don’t lie as I’ve been told that is wrong, but half-truths seem to be easier.
I spend many hours on both work and life correcting half-truths. Some are well intended and others are just outright malicious or wrong. So much trust and productivity wasted
Scripture on Half-Truths
- Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth- John 17:17
- The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times. – Psalm 12:6
Lies and half-truths have been with us since the beginning. Even in Genesis 3:1, the Serpent is trying to be crafty with his words to Eve. This is not a new phenomenon but something we deal with daily.
The point if this rambling, is that the Word is truth. The Lord wants us to love him and People. There are not lies or half-truths in the Bible. There have been translation issues but the overall consistency of the Bible show me that the Lord is the Truth and the Light.
It’s a challenge to not tell half-truths. We may do it to make ourselves or others feel better. We may do it when we aren’t even trying. There is an old saying that a closed.mouth catches no flies. You can’t lie if you are quite. Yes, easier said than done.
I don’t know how to be pure in voice by myself. I praythat my words are acceptable to the Lord and he helps me speak pure and true.
Think about your conversations today. Have you told any half-truths? If so, can you take action to rectify?
My prayer is that you think about your speech and pray for open and honest conversation.
