204 – Marriage is What Brings Us Together Today
#FaithBites #FaithJourney Marriage
Before we get started, I wanted to dedicate this #FaithBite to my brother Adam and my new Sister-In-Law Bianka. Thank you for the honor of being at your wedding and seeing you start the next chapter of your life. You two are amazing. I love you, respect you, and am here to be your helper in life. And now onto FaithBites.
Today I saw two souls becoming one. They exchanged vows, exchanged laughs, exchanged promises, and begin the next chapter of their lives together. What struck me as amazing, is not only the love these two shared but rather how many other lives were touched by their marriage. Friends, family, extended family, coworkers, and more breaking bread sharing a meal and bearing witness to their love.
During a wedding, not only are the two couples becoming one, but new friendships are forged. New relationship start which may turn into the next love story. You never know the impact that two people in have on all the people around them.
Scripture on Marriage
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.
But for Adam, no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
The man said,
“This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’
for she was taken out of man.”
That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh – Genesis 2:18-24
Reflection
While marriage may be what brings us together today, love is what keeps us together. One flesh from two. As we see in the scripture, God doesn’t want us to be alone. We are to have a helper in life. Someone to help us through the ups and down. Someone to provide comfort, support, love, direction, and push us when we need it. This helper was made for us by God.
I know that not everyone gets married. I look at today not only as two becoming one and finding their helper, but also the others who may have found a new helper. Maybe it was a new love or a new friend. Maybe it was reconnecting with family or friends from times long past. Remember that while the Bride and Groom are sharing their love for each other, you are showing your love for them. You are making promises to be their helper and confident in life. For we are all part of God’s family.

Enjoy a wedding. See those who are entering a lifetime of love and see what that means to you. You are now their helper and they yours. You were chosen for a reason to be part of their wedding. Are you willing to help them when times are rough to remember their vows and promises?
I am willing with the help of God.
