Royalty

Today was the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The world was a buzz. Memes about royalty. Pictures comparing dresses to Ice Tea cans. Conversations about the cost of royal weddings. Trolls hating everyone worshipping people who sit on a throne of corruption, theft, and murder. It goes on and on. The funniest or most twisted goes to the people who said we admire these people because they are part of a bloodline and not for what they do. Sounds a lot like many American celebrities last time I checked.

We are fascinated by what we don’t have and can’t be. Most of us are not “of a royal bloodline”. Most of us will never marry into a royal family. This is just otherworldly to us.

What if I told you, that you were royal? That you were a chosen person? That by faith you are invited to the royal family? “You were born of a royal bloodline?

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” – 1 Peter 2:9

“You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand,
a royal diadem in the hand of your God.” – Isaiah 62:3

you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.” – Exodus 19:6

We are saved by the blood and the water. Even before that God told us that we were part of a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. That sounds like royalty to me. We are a diadem in the hand of our God. (And yes, I had to google that as I had no idea of what it was. If you are wondering, it is a jeweled crown or headband worn as a symbol of sovereignty. Wonder Woman’s tiara came to my mind). We are born royal. We are forgiven by Christ for all of our wrongdoings. We don’t end up in the tabloids like Prince Harry and William when they were younger. We are not chased by paparazzi. We are not treated differently by others for our faith, but we are.

We are the children of the king of the universe. Doesn’t get more royal than that. I love my mortal bloodline and my eternal line.

Can you accept you are royal to the Lord? Can you see how that royalty helps you accomplish all things through him?

I can and am ready (with the help of God)
