For the past 111 days, I’ve written about the power of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I’ve challenged you to listen to his Word and live by it. I’ve given many examples of his involvement in my life. But what happens when God isn’t enough? IllI answer that, at least for me in a little bit.
Let’s face it: Life is hard. Sometimes it downright sucks. There are the days when you just want to throw in the towel. When you don’t want to Adult or even human. When being a cat or a sloth or anything other than who and what you are sounds awesome. When no matter of cheering up helps. When you want what is yours and are sick of giving of your time and energy for everyone else.
Here’s a secret you may not know. We all have those days. Even soemone like me who shares his word with you has those days. Days when God’s plan seems to be just plain kooky dook.
Here’s another secret you may not know: It is in those times when he is closer than you think.
“You hear me when I call
You are my morning song
Though darkness fills the night
It cannot hide the light”
“So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” – Isaiah 41:19
“and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:20
These are but two passages that show God is with us until the end of the age. He is the God of Angel armies. He is by our side.
You may be thinking, but Sol, I don’t feel him. He doesn’t give me a hug when I need one. He isn’t helping me financially when everything is crashing down. He isn’t holding my heart when I’m suffering a great loss. He is nowhere to be found.
Here’s another little secret: He is there. He is the hug from your child when you are sad he is that extra half day off of work when you need it. He is the one who sends that extra bit of money or food when you needed it. He is the one who left you to this message when it rang true.
Yes, life sucks. Yes, sometimes the words on the page don’t help. But to answer the question of what happens when God isn’t enough,the answer is it never happens. He is always enough. It is a marathon not a Sprint. Belief and Christ-like living is always enough. It is not an easy path at all. It’s very challenging. But through faith, and taking advantage of the gifts he gives you,it will be enough.
Are you willing to trust in the Lord? Are you willing to see his presence even when life is getting you down? Are you able to see that He is enough?
I am willing and able (with the help of God).
