April 4 – Welcomed Surprises

#94of365 #FaithBites #Faithjourney

Today’s lesson is about unexpected surprises. I love doing things for people. I love to see their smiles, their thanks, and seeing them happy. I usually don’t get a lot of surprises for myself, but yesterday was different.

After working a long 13 hour plus day, I came home exhausted, tired, and drained. I opened the door to my two daughters screaming. But not screams of being in trouble or mad, but screams of joy that I was home. They both yelled for me, ran to me, gave me hugs, and loved on me. Then said, daddy, we made a surprise for you.

I went upstairs with them and saw the surprise. On the counter were three homemade cards and a chocolate cake. Not only did the girls made cards but my wife did and a cake. (And yes, Dad is great, we made him chocolate cake). I was so surprised, overjoyed, and besides myself. This was out of the blue and just awesome. Then the four of us cuddled in bed before putting the kids to bed.

That unexpected joy is what God wants for all of us.

“May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.” – Psalm 20:4

“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart” – Psalm 37:4

“May God give you heaven’s dew
and earth’s richness—
an abundance of grain and new wine.
May nations serve you
and peoples bow down to you.
Be lord over your brothers,
and may the sons of your mother bow down to you.
May those who curse you be cursed
and those who bless you be blessed.” – Genesis 27:28-28

I don’t know about you, but I happen to think, our God is an awesome God. He wants us to have joys, peace, love, and all our desires. He wants us to delightful. I know I am touched by God through my children and my wife.I know life isn’t always sunshine, unicorns, puppy dogs, and kittens. But if you look hard enough, you never know where that touch of God and surprise will dramatically change your day and life.

I am blessed.

Are you ready to accept the love of God? Are you ready to believe God only wants good things for you? Are you ready to live in those moments of unexpected joy?

I am ready and willing (with the help of God)
