2:286 – From Words To Actions
#faithbites #faithjourney #redletterchallenge words
We are entering the final week of The Red Letter Challenge. The theme of the week is Going. That means taking everything from the previous five weeks (being, forgiving, serving and giving) and putting it to practice.
This is a hard task for most of us. There is a large portion of society who says nothing and does nothing. Then there is a smaller group that speaks up but does nothing. There is even a smaller group that speaks up and does something.
What group are you in? If you wanted to change groups, do you know how?
Scripture
- But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. – James 2:18
- Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. – Matthew 7:24
Reflection
We started the red letter challenge with being. In that, we used Matthew 7:24 as the foundation. If we are being with Christ, then we are following his example. Jesus was a man of action. In many verses, we see Jesus moving from place to place, with words like “and then” and “immediately “.
If we are true Christians and want to be like Jesus we need to Act and Do. We dont do this things to earn salvation, as Jesus won that for us with his blood. We do it because it is our privilege and responsibility to share Jesus with everyone.
So as we start this last week, think about how you can use your words, create action, and share Jesus.
Challenge
Start small. Fine one small thing to take action on. Maybe it’s sharing scripture. Perhaps it’s telling one person how Jesus has impacted your life. No special words, no scripture needed, just tell your story.
Prayer
Lord, its time to put our money where our mouth is and act. Give us the strength and perseverance to really move. We know you are a Lord of action and help us to be a child of action. In your name, Amen.
