Party on Garth. Today when I was driving to the grocery story, I was listening to Thnks fr th\u00a0Mmrs by fall out boy. And yes, that is the actual title which stands for Thanks for the Memories. In the very first verse, they say: Say a prayer, but let the good times roll in case God doesn&#8217;t show. This got me thinking about my faith and what if God doesn&#8217;t show, or if he doesn&#8217;t exist at all. (Not that I believe that, but let&#8217;s roll with it).<\/p>\n<p>First, we say there is no God. Then we say the bible is a historical book that is fictionalized and has to many errors to be true. Then that proves God doesn&#8217;t exist right? Wrong. As a scientist, I can&#8217;t believe that everything we have here is an accident. If you look at the commonality of genetic makeup, things that reappear in nature over and over like the Golden Ratio in Nature. The golden ratio is expressed in spiraling shells: it&#8217;s a Fibonacci number series that we see in flower petals, seed heads, pine cones, tree branches, spiral galaxies, hurricanes and more. Look at DNA. Even if all of that doesn&#8217;t sway you and you believe in the big bang, where did the stuff that was in the big bang come from? These are eccestential\u00a0questions. Maybe believing in God is and easy explanation. But in the words of Einstein: Science without religion is lame, religion wihtout\u00a0science is blind.<\/p>\n<p>I choose God.<\/p>\n<h5>Scripture on Existence of God<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/gen.1.1\" class=\"verseLink\">Genesis 1:1<\/a><\/li>\n<li>And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/heb.11.6\" class=\"verseLink\">Hebrews 11:6<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Fools say in their hearts, &#8220;There is no God.&#8221; They are corrupt, they commit abominable acts; there is no one who does good. God looks down from heaven on humankind to see if there are any who are wise, who seek after God. They have all fallen away, they are all alike perverse; there is no one who does good, no, not one &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/psa.53.1-13\" class=\"verseLink\">Psalm 53:1-13<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n<p>So it doesn&#8217;t make sense to reflect on scripture if you don&#8217;t believe in the bible or God. Let&#8217;s just let the good times roll and do anything we want. It will be ok. But that&#8217;s folly. It&#8217;s also folly to try to please God if you don&#8217;t have faith. At the same time, without God or faith, who do you rely on your for moral compass? How do you know what&#8217;s right or wrong? If it&#8217;s truly everyone for themselves, then is there such thing as an abominable act? \\<\/p>\n<p>I like video games like Fallout and others where I can choose to be good or bad. I can even be good then just shot someone for the heck of it to see what happens. In life, you can drink, commit crimes, and do all kinds of crazy stuff if you don&#8217;t have someone that holds you accountable. That doesn&#8217;t mean someone who hates you or berates you, rather someone to listen, forgive, and promise salvation. That is what God does.<\/p>\n<p>There is no way I can convince\u00a0an unbeliever that there is a God. Likewise, there is no way to prove that the bible is without translation or other errors over 2000-5000 years. I do know that I chose to believe in a perfect God who created all stuff in the universe including what made the big bang. If God is all-powerful, why couldn&#8217;t he do that?<\/p>\n<h5>Charge<\/h5>\n<p>Do you believe in something higher than yourself or do you let the good times roll? God grounds us and helps direct us. He lets us have good times within limits. Not be mean or to punish for no reason but to help us thrive. Just like a parent corrects a child. Look at your belief system. Find a way to enrich that belief.<\/p>\n<p>Lord, help me to never doubt you. Allow me to see all the wonders in the world and attribute them to you and not man.
