222 – Do You Believe in Magic?<\/h5>\n

Webster’s has two definitions of magic. The first is the one we are most familiar with\u00a0the use of means (such as charms or spells) believed to have supernatural power over natural forces.\u00a0<\/em>This is where we get our wizards, warlocks, witches, magic, and all kinds of questing games. I will get back to the second one in a minute.<\/p>\n

My eldest and I had lots of fun playing Magiquest. Basically, it’s a live-action questing game where you hunt objects down, point your wands at different things and solve quests. It’s a lot of fun and great exercise as you are going up and down stairs, cargo nets, and more. (Yes, my knee is yelling at me know). My daughter was so into it. When we were struggling she said her wand was weak and needed more power to defeat the evil creatures. We were two wizards on a quest. What really surprised me was when fellow Wizards, (other players), needed help. She would go off and help them find what they were looking for. Then she would come back to me and said I needed to help another wizard. While she wanted to level up and solve the quests, she would easily stop to help others. I was so very proud of her.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As you know faithbites always has a spiritual twist, and this one is no different. This also comes to the point of the second definition of magic:\u00a0an extraordinary power or influence seemingly from a supernatural source.<\/em> If this doesn’t describe God, i don’t know what does. Supernatural doesn’t mean bad, it, just means beyond what humans can do. It also reminded me of a line in a Sarah Silverman special. (Yes, she can be very offensive. She is also a Jewish Comedian). In this skit, she was dating a Catholic guy and talked about having a baby. Then she said:\u00a0The only time it’s an issue, I suppose, would be like if you’re having a baby and you’ve got to figure out how you want to raise it. Which still wouldn’t be an issue for us, because we’d be \u2026 honest, and just say, you know, like, “Mommy is one of the chosen people \u2026 and daddy believes that Jesus is magic!”<\/em><\/p>\n

Now at first, I thought that is totally offensive. But after today and seeing Jesus through my daughter and what magic means, sure….Jesus is Magic. (Keep in mind, the second definition of magic, not the first or the demonic source some people think of).<\/p>\n
