Today’s lesson is on time. I don’t’ have enough time. I have to be here by that time. How much time does it take?\u00a0When will we be done with it?\u00a0I have to do a million things and don’t know when I will fit it in. I’m too old for this. I’m too young for this. When I think about time, the song, Time is On My Side comes to mind. Specifically in the movie Fallen:\u00a0https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KeuRAWSJGFY.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

My concern or issue is that we understand time very differently than God. He has a plan, that isn’t ours. We rank our goodness or success by time. I worked at this job for x years. I’ve volunteered for this organization for y years. I’ve been going to church every Sunday for z years. (Two measures in that one). The problem for me is time isn’t a measure of success. Our actions, our beliefs, and our relationships are what matters. Saying I’ve been a friend to someone for x years, just counts the time, but not why the friendship is important. With two kids, work, school, volunteerism, and more, time is always on my mind but not always on my side.<\/p>\n

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet\u00a0no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” – Ecclesiastes 3:11<\/a><\/p>\n

“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring” – Proverbs 27:1<\/a><\/p>\n

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” – Psalm 90:12<\/a><\/p>\n

\n

Let us remember why do things. Not because the clock tells us too. Not because we are waiting for something to happen. We do things to worship the Lord. When we do that, we improve our families, our relationships, our financial health, our philanthropy and more. It is easy to get frustrated when someone wants more of your time. I cringe sometimes when\u00a0my daughters want to cuddle at night or rub their backs. I have things to do. Then I remember that things are just things. My children will not always want that. This is the time to be present with them always.<\/p>\n
