A waterpark is pure excitment and fun for a kid…if they can swim. When they can’t swim or are in doubt, fear sets in. Everything can be scary. From a baby pool, to the wave pool, to walking on a slippery deck.<\/p>\n

Tonight, I spent a few minutes at a waterpark with my kids before it closed. Tomorrow and the next day will be filled with even more swimming.
\nMy youngest was afraid of everything. She only wanted the hot tub (warming pool) and the splash area. She found a BIG slide (it was tiny but it’s big for her). She went up and was about to go and became scared. Daddy had to go down with her. Then she wanted to go down again. I told her she could go down by herself but I would hold her hand but I couldn’t let go. She went again and again then said Daddy, let go. I did. By the end of the time, she was going down all by herself. She was proud of herself. Even I “let go” I was there to help if she needed it.<\/p>\n

Life is like that. We think we can do anything we want without help. Then we pray for help. God holds our hand as we go through things. Daddy, don’t let go. Then as we get more conifdent we think we can do it with him. We tell him “Daddy, let go”. While we may not be saying this in words, we say it in actions by not conitnuing our worship and prayer. WHen we think we can do everything without a hand to help us. Just like me with my kids, even when they let go, he is still there to lend a hand.<\/p>\n

Scripture on Letting Go<\/h5>\n

\u201cCursed is the one who trusts in man,
\nwho draws strength from mere flesh
\nand whose heart turns away from the Lord.
\nThat person will be like a bush in the wastelands;
\nthey will not see prosperity when it comes.
\nThey will dwell in the parched places of the desert,
\nin a salt land where no one lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
\nwhose confidence is in him.
\nThey will be like a tree planted by the water
\nthat sends out its roots by the stream.
\nIt does not fear when heat comes;
\nits leaves are always green.
\nIt has no worries in a year of drought
\nand never fails to bear fruit.\u201d<\/p>\n

The heart is deceitful above all things
\nand beyond cure.
\nWho can understand it? – Jeremiah 17:5-9<\/a><\/p>\n

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. – Deuteronomy 31:6<\/a><\/p>\n

Reflection<\/h5>\n

We can try to do things ourself and while we may find some earthly success but heavenly failure. The lord tell us he will be with us, he will protect us and provide for us. In Jereimah we see we will be a like a tree planted by water, feed, nourished and grow. If not, we will be a bush in the wasteland. I don’t like the sound of that. I know I think I can do all things because God helps me. But I should say, because God strengthens me and it is in his plan, I can do all things. Slight variation in words, but this arrangement shows I am holding his hand and never letting go. It is comforting to know that if I do let go, he will still watch over me and be there to take my hand when I am scared.<\/p>\n
