Today’s Bible verse is about our need for God changes at different times as we feel we need him more or less. Even though we always need him. During Grandma’s celebration of life, in Hebrew there is no word for funeral, the Rabbi said we think we can go straight at it on our own. When things are good, we don’t ask God for much and really ask him for help when it’s bad. The truth is, we need him all the days, all the time. He read Psalm 23. Which most of us know but explained\u00a0it in a different way.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.<\/p>\n

He causes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters.<\/p>\n

He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.<\/p>\n

Even when I walk in the valley of darkness, I will fear no evil for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff-they comfort me.<\/p>\n

You set a table before me in the presence of my adversaries; You anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows.<\/p>\n

May only goodness and kindness pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for length of days<\/p>\n

\nThis is a psalm where language and grammar matter. In the beginning, when times are good, green pastures, we refer to God as He. He is there, he’s done things. But when things are bad, walking through the valley, the word ‘He” changes to you.
\nWe aren’t talking about him in an aloof, existential manner, but rather as I would talk to anyone. You are here to help me.<\/p>\n
