I can&#8217;t do it. Work today has had me switching between a hundred different things and my brain feels like it&#8217;s going to break. I&#8217;ve always been like that when it comes to multitasking. When I watch TV, there should be no noise, no talking, no looking at phones, just me and the screen. Other people can listen to music, watch TV, eat, and conquer the world all while not missing a beat. But what is really happing during multitasking? Some experts say that we really can&#8217;t do more than one thing at once and we are just switching quickly between several things. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today&#8217;s Questions: Is multitasking more efficient than one task at a time? Are you truly giving your best effort when switching between thoughts? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 id=\"scripture\">Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Proberbs 21:5 &#8211; The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.<\/li><li>Matthe 6:24 &#8211; \u201cNo one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 id=\"reflection\">Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>What does it mean to multitask? Mer<a href=\"https:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/multitasking\">riam-Webst<\/a>er defines it as &#8220;1)the concurrent performance of several jobs by a computer, 2) the performance of multiple tasks at one time. If we look at those definitions we are not computers and we really can&#8217;t do multiple things at once.. We just switch back and forth. If we look at our scriptures, our Proverbs verse says to be diligent and not hasty. When multitasking are you doing it to knock it out or to do it well? Are you crunching things together in a hasty manner just to not have to worry about it? That&#8217;s what happens to me. I just do as many things at once (or close together) just to check off the list. It&#8217;s not helpful and if I concentrated on one thing at a time, I would be much better off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also see that we can&#8217;t serve two masters at once. This could be one task at a time or trying to live in this world and the next at the same time. We have a foot in each but we have to choose our master. We should focus on God and God alone. He will make our paths clear, <a href=\"http:\/\/roberts-lieb.com\/faithbites\/2021\/11\/13\/november-13-removing-obstacles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">remove obstacles,<\/a> and help us be as productive as possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we close, remember that having lists and prioritizing tasks is good. Multitasking can be detrimental to our performance. Focus on one thing at a time and serve God in all things. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 id=\"prayer\">Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord Jesus, we ask you to help us choose the right things to spend our time on. Help us to focus, concentrate and do what we want us to do. Let us know that we don&#8217;t have to do it all right now in order to serve you well.
