It&#8217;s been a long weekend, two sick kids (don&#8217;t worry just allergies and head colds), I&#8217;m tired, and exhausted. Exhaustion is beyond just being tired. It&#8217;s that feeling when no matter how much you sleep you aren&#8217;t rested. I know it will pass. I know there are things I can do to make it better and will. But first (and yes, I thought of Julie Chen from Big Brother when I wrote that), I turn to the one who gives me rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today&#8217;s Questions: When you are truly exhausted how do you feel? What do you do to overcome that feeling?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+11%3A28-29++&amp;version=NIV\">Matthew 11:28-29&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/a><\/strong>\u201cCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.&nbsp;&nbsp;<sup>&nbsp;<\/sup>Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.\u201d<\/em><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+62%3A1&amp;version=NIV\">Psa<\/a><\/strong><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+62%3A1&amp;version=NIV\">lm 62:1<\/a>&nbsp; \u201c<\/strong>Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.\u201d<\/em><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+127%3A1-2&amp;version=NIV\">Psalm 127:1-2<\/a>&nbsp; \u201c<\/strong>Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.&nbsp; Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.&nbsp; In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat\u2014&nbsp;for he grants sleep to those he loves.\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>I have heard <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/mat.11.28\" class=\"verseLink\">Matthew 11:28<\/a> in the past and realized he will always give rest. This may be the first time I&#8217;ve seen the second part of verse 29. God is gentle and humble in heart and our souls will find rest. The rest of the verses follow that. Our work unless it&#8217;s in the Lord will be in vain. Our rest, our salvation comes from him. In a nutshell, we aren&#8217;t talking about just getting some sleep, we are talking about true peaceful rest. Our souls get to rest, rejuvenate, and become ready for what God has for us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we close, remember, Faith in the Lord brings true rejuvenation. Sleep only helps so much, our souls need to laugh, dance, sing, and be forgiven. We get that from Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Father God, thank you for your love and your sabbath rest. You are the true rest for us, the true cure for exhaustion. We pray that you reach us where we are, help us follow you, and truly open ourselves up to the rest that only you can provide.
