{"id":5738,"date":"2021-04-17T11:51:34","date_gmt":"2021-04-17T16:51:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/roberts-lieb.com\/faithbites\/?p=5738"},"modified":"2021-04-17T23:00:43","modified_gmt":"2021-04-18T04:00:43","slug":"april-17-call-upon-your-allies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/roberts-lieb.com\/faithbites\/2021\/04\/17\/april-17-call-upon-your-allies\/","title":{"rendered":"April 17 &#8211; Call Upon Your Allies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5>4:107 &#8211; Call Upon Your Allies<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>#faithbites #faithjourney Allies<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Setting<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Yesterday we talked about putting on the <a href=\"http:\/\/roberts-lieb.com\/faithbites\/2021\/04\/16\/april-16-its-time-for-battle-suit-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">whole armor of God before going into battle<\/a>. God gives us more than his Armor, he gives us many allies. We&#8217;ve talked about Jesus and the Holy Spirit often, but did you know God gives you more allies than you would know. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My best friend and I have a joke, and yes, I know it&#8217;s morbid. We say, &#8220;Friends help you move. Real friends help you move bodies.&#8221; It&#8217;s to illustrate the people who you work with daily and then those who are your people of peace. Those who pour truth into you and you into them. The true allies that God has given you to walk alongside in this journey of life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today&#8217;s Questions: Who are your allies? Do you call upon them as God intended? Are you leery about asking for help? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/jdg.20.11\" class=\"verseLink\">Judges 20:11<\/a> &#8211; <\/strong><\/em>So all the Israelites were completely united, and they gathered together to attack the town.<\/li><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/pro.17.17\" class=\"verseLink\">Proverbs 17:17<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.<\/em><\/li><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/1sa.18.1-3\" class=\"verseLink\">1 Samuel 18:1-3<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; After David had finished talking with Saul, he met Jonathan, the king\u2019s son. There was an immediate bond between them, for Jonathan loved David.\u00a0<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>From that day on Saul kept David with him and wouldn\u2019t let him return home.\u00a0<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>And Jonathan made a solemn pact with David, because he loved him as he loved himself.<\/em><\/li><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/ecc.4.9-12\" class=\"verseLink\">Ecclesiastes 4:9-12<\/a> <\/strong>&#8211; Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.\u00a0<sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.\u00a0<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone?\u00a0<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>A lot of old testament in our scriptures today. You may ask why that it? The Old Testament has more war and battles than the New though the nature of allies and friendships are ever-present throughout the New Testament. As Jesus says, Love God and love others as yourself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A friend or an ally is one who is loyal, united, and can help you succeed. They will do whatever they can, no matter what, and are put there by God. The 1 Samuel verse is a bit different. When we think of allies, we may think of those we&#8217;ve known our whole lives. As we see there, David and Jonathan had an immediate bond, and a new ally was born. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we look for those that can help us, we can&#8217;t just look at those who have been with us forever. You never know who God has put into your life for a specific purpose. Each interaction with a new person can be a new ally, someone who may be the right person and the right time to help you succeed. The key is to be open to God&#8217;s plan at all times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we close, allies are something that we all need. We have God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit to help us. They move through each of us and put allies in our paths. We need to just be open to this and ask for the help we need. Never go into battle alone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord Jesus, tonight we thank you for allies known and unknown. You are clear that we aren&#8217;t made to live this life alone. We pray to be receptive to those who love us and want to help. Give us the courage to ask for that help and accept them on our side. We also pray that we can be an ally for those in need no matter what the situation or circumstance. Let us be allies, fighters, and messengers of your Word as you&#8217;ve commanded us to go out into the world.
