It Can Happen Anywhere<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>#faithbites #faithjourney bread<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Setting<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>This afternoon, my wife and I had a break from the kids, thanks to a friend, and strolled through Hobby Lobby. I saw a sign that had <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/act.2.46\" class=\"verseLink\">Acts 2:46<\/a> which says, &#8220;They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,&#8221;. The sign missed the first part of the text, but we will hit that later. When I saw this, I instantly thought how much I miss going to church. (The building, not the people). I miss hugging, singing, and being in one place with so many people who love Jesus. At the same time, I realized that I don&#8217;t have to be in a building to worship Jesus. While the disciples continued to meet together in the temple (that&#8217;s the first part of the verse), they broke break in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts. The disciples were persecuted, didn&#8217;t have Jesus with them anymore, and were struggling to find the footing of the new church. Through it all, they never stopped meeting and we&#8217;re glad for what they had. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today&#8217;s Questions. Are you still breaking bread in faith with those even if you can&#8217;t meet in a church building? How are you still honoring God in your heart and actions, throughout this crazy time?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/act.2.46\" class=\"verseLink\">Acts 2:46<\/a> <\/strong>&#8211; Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,<\/em><\/li><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/act.2.42\" class=\"verseLink\">Acts 2:42<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; And they devoted themselves to the apostles&#8217; teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.<\/em><\/li><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/mat.18.20\" class=\"verseLink\">Matthew 18:20<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.\u201d<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p> Sharing a meal, inviting someone into your house to be in with you is critical to building relationships. In Christianity, breaking of bread is an important ritual. We must not forget to gather, break bread, and be thankful no matter the circumstances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sure, I miss going to church. I haven&#8217;t been to an indoor inside service since March 2020 and I miss it. I&#8217;m excited for the Easter service to be outdoors. What I have to challenge myself to do is still break bread in Jesus&#8217;s name with his followers. Even though our circles are smaller, we do gather in his name. We might not be able to gather in the temple course, but we do gather in our homes to worship him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we close, think about how you are following his teachings and breaking bread with his followers even though it might not be the same was as below. Think about ways to make all moments sacred and <a href=\"http:\/\/roberts-lieb.com\/faithbites\/2021\/03\/06\/march-6-this-is-holy-ground\/\">holy in His name.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord Jesus, thank you for giving us an example in your disciples. You told us that they still gathered both in the temple and in their homes to break bread and give thanks. You also told us whenever two or more are gathered you would be there. We pray that you help us make all moments holy and continue to worship you no matter the situation. Let us find unique ways to break bread and following your teachings regardless of the pandemic status. This is something we can learn to further our worship of you from this day forward.
