Trust in You<\/p>\n

Trust is a word we use a lot. I trust you. I don’t trust you. I trust this source. I don’t trust this source. You broke\u00a0my trust and I can’t forgive you. I trust you and love you forever. Today I saw an example of unadulterated trust with a trip to the dentist.<\/p>\n

My youngest had never been to the dentist. I know, I’m a slacker. I told her what it was all about and she was ready for it, although a little scared. She asked what Dr. Sarah would do and I said clean her teeth. Then she asked if Dr. Sarah would cut her teeth. I told her no. Then she was a total trooper. No tears. No fear. She went with the tech, brushed her teeth, smiled, and sat there with a wide open mouth the whole time. She was brave and trusting as I was by her side. She even said it was easy.<\/p>\n

As we were coming home, I thought about that. The trust it must take to go into a completely new experience that can be scary especially when your older sister is saying she doesn’t want to go. But no hesitation, just there with me and her stuffed animal. At one point she asked for mommy who was in the other room with her sister. She and I played games and just talked until it was her time.<\/p>\n

When I think about that level of trust, it is no surprise to me that many don’t believe in God or his plan. Having trust in someone who you can touch, hold, and be with is hard enough, let alone someone who you can never see, never hold, never talk to. But we can if we believe.<\/p>\n

\n

“Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant.” – 2 Samuel 7:28<\/a><\/p>\n

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” – Psalm 56:3<\/a><\/p>\n

“The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God” – Daniel 6:23<\/a><\/p>\n

“trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6<\/a><\/p>\n

I could probably list 50 verses that talk about trust. God promises throughout the Bible to bring good things to those who pray and believe. In Daniel, he spared Daniel’s life in the lion’s den. He protected Noah and his Family. He gave Job peace. Over and over again, his promises are met. Trust me (see what I did there?), I get that trusting in God is hard. I have real trust issues with humanity after being burned or left by people over and over again. I chose to trust in him. I choose to believe that his Word will lead me to righteousness in this life and the next. I know life sucks sometimes. Yesterday I was talking to a parent about how hard it is to parent and that sometimes it sucks. But what I just realized is no matter how many times I argue with my children, no matter how many times we disagree, they trust in me and I in them. Forgiveness and trust build the relationship in the home, just as it is the foundation of our relationship with the Lord.<\/p>\n

Now I’m not saying a root canal will be pleasant, and I hope my kids never need one, but we have built a foundation of trust. Likewise when life turns, and it will, I have a foundation of trust with the Lord and I believe in him.<\/p>\n

Are you ready to trust fully in the Lord?<\/p>\n
