This morning, my wife said it was so quiet because she wasn&#8217;t here. I said I knew she was gone because it was so silent. Please don&#8217;t get me wrong, I love my family, it is just sometimes all I want is silence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you crave silence? To me it&#8217;s not necessarily actually silence but not having to make decioksn, be in charge, running around, or always being &#8220;on&#8221;. All of these add up toy definition of silence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today&#8217;s questions: Do you need quiet time? What does your definition of silence look like? How does your faith impact how you rest?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/exo.14.14\" class=\"verseLink\">Exodus 14:14<\/a><\/strong><\/em><em> &#8211; The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.\u201d<\/em><\/li><li><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/isa.32.17\" class=\"verseLink\">Isaiah 32:17<\/a> &#8211;<\/em><\/strong><em> And the work of righteousness will be peace, And the service of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever<\/em>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The jist of our verses today is that we need silence. This serves two purposes. First, it allows us to rest and rejuvenate. Second, the Lord tells us that in silence she will fight for as we know, all we have to do is be still and know that he is God. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Understanding that rest and silence is what we need, what how do we get it? We can&#8217;t kick our kids out of the house. I don&#8217;t know about you, but I&#8217;m not independently wealthy to have a maid, nanny, groundskeeper, cook, gardner, butler, and personal assistant. So how do we carve out that time? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Jesus, he went off to pray several times to be alone with his Father. Imagine if you had the weight of the world on your shoulder, how much rest you would need. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we close, we must recognize how important rest and having silence is. We must also know that making time for God is a critical piece of this. Remember, make the time to rest and be in silence so you can live and fufil God&#8217;s plans for you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Father God, help us find quiet in this world. Give us the skills to carve out time for silence and for worshiping you. Remove barriers to this and above all, remind us how important silence and rest is for you and your plan.
