Normally we would get all the ads, plan our purchases, our routes, our breaks, and just have a wonderful time. This year, almost everything was done online. So my normal plan didn&#8217;t play out. I also like to plan and follow through because it helps with my anxiety. When I know what&#8217;s next and can check off the boxes, I feel better. But sometimes, things don&#8217;t go according to plan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We know that God has a plan for us. <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/jer.29.11\" class=\"verseLink\">Jeremiah 29:11<\/a> says, &#8220;For I know the plans I have for you,\u201d declares the LORD, \u201cplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.&#8221;. But what about making our own plans? Is that ok? What should go into making our plans?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/pro.16.3\" class=\"verseLink\">Proverbs 16:3<\/a> &#8211; Commit your work to the\u00a0Lord, and your plans will be established.<\/em><\/li><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/pro.3.6\" class=\"verseLink\">Proverbs 3:6<\/a> &#8211; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.<\/em><\/li><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/luk.14.28\" class=\"verseLink\">Luke 14:28<\/a> &#8211; For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>We see two main points we need to think about when planning. First and foremost, we need to do things that Glorify and acknowledge God. When we think about what we want to do, we need to ask if it will bring glory to God. If not, then it&#8217;s probably not a good thing for us to be working on. Second, do we have the resources to do it. We often overlook the full cost. We may thing of the money needed, but what about time, people, and other resources needed. An example at my university, when they design a building, they have to include 30 years of maintenance cost in the project plan. Are you adding in the upkeep in time, treasure, and talent?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m trying to get better at this. Sometimes, I am like a <a href=\"http:\/\/roberts-lieb.com\/faithbites\/2020\/06\/27\/june-27-a-dog-with-a-bone\/\">dog with a bone<\/a> and just want to plan and do it. Other times, I&#8217;m fearful and can be paralyzed in making a decision. Where do you fall?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As with all things, we need to stop and think. Let&#8217;s give God the Glory, ask for his guidance, and act on it. He has plans to help and not harm us. Let&#8217;s not have our plans to bring us harm. Right now, I&#8217;m planning a little nap. 1) Will it bring God Glory? He tells us to rest, so yes. 2) What costs are there? Time away from family. TIme from doing other things. All in all, it should be ok. So a nap it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What are you planning today? Are you following these steps?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you have any plans to make or big decisions? Write it down and apply the two step decision process. What do you get? Good luck<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Father God, you love us and want the best for us. You have a plan for each and everyone one of us. Help us to plan so that we honor you and follow your plan. When we fail, which we will, help us get back on track and plan better for the future. We seek your guidance and counsel as we make our plans for the future. Thank you for being a good good father. We love you, Lord.
