I given many likes, comments, prayers, and good vibes. One person replied that luck wasn&#8217;t Christian and offered prayers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At first, I was ticked off at the comment and was about to respond because a simple &#8220;thinking of you&#8221; or &#8220;prayers&#8221; would have been fine, but then I  thought <a href=\"http:\/\/roberts-lieb.com\/faithbites\/2019\/09\/04\/september-4-w-w-j-d\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WWJD<\/a>.  It wouldn&#8217;t do good to respond to it other than saying &#8220;thanks&#8221;. I then started to research &#8220;luck&#8221; and why the commenter posted that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those of us who believe in Christ, believe in a God that has a plan for the universe and we are all wonderfully made to be part of that plan. When we rest our hopes on luck, we remove God from the equation and focus on some unknown force that is controlling our destiny. God is our creator, Jesus is our Savior, and the Holy Spirit is our faith-builder. We don&#8217;t need luck, when we have God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/pro.16.33\" class=\"verseLink\">Proverbs 16:33<\/a> &#8211; The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the\u00a0Lord.<\/em><\/li><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/jas.1.17\" class=\"verseLink\">James 1:17<\/a> &#8211; Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.<\/em><\/li><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/rom.8.28\" class=\"verseLink\">Romans 8:28<\/a> &#8211; And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Luck isn&#8217;t a concept in the Bible, because we don&#8217;t need it. (And no, we aren&#8217;t talking about gambling or games of chance; that&#8217;s something different).  God makes all decisions, gives us all gifts, and things work together for good. Not perfect as we are far from it, but for good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, where does luck or wishing for luck come in? For me, I say it for two reasons. First, I didn&#8217;t know that when we wish for luck, we take God out of the equation. Second, I have friends of many faiths. I want their support and best wishes through my struggles. That doesn&#8217;t reduce my faith in God, I try to make God more approachable to them. I could be wrong in this approach and try to get better every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So instead of asking or wishing for luck, what if we asked for prayers. Would our lives be different? Remember, when we ask for prayers and pray, we invite God into our lives and deepen our relationship with him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So thank you to my friend who posted this. I apologize for my initial internal reaction and thank God for helping me to look deeply into God&#8217;s role in our lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Luck or prayers? What do you ask for when you are struggling? How to you ask for support from nonbelievers? Think and reflect on this. See what God tells you and how he is active in your life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Father God, thank you for answering our prayers. Thank you for helping us think outside the box and be open to your word and your way at all times. Lord, luck is just happenstance and you are beyond that. Everything is in your hands and you will answer through your will, your way, and in your time. Help us to count on you above all things.
