Internet down. Kids both sick at home. Kids picking on each other. It&#8217;s been rough. I&#8217;m exhausted. Today was a day when I had plans to get a good chunk of my dissertation revised but that didn&#8217;t happen and now I&#8217;m feeling sick, tired, and frustrated. Several of my close friends feel like throwing in the towel. Between normal changing of seasons, COVID-19, social distancing, politics, and everything, we&#8217;ve had enough. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know I&#8217;m loved and blessed. It just hard. I remember when I was almost done with my Master&#8217;s Degree project, I quit for 8 hours out of frustrations. My wife supported me through it and it went well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What do you do when you feel like throwing in the towel?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/jhn.16.33\" class=\"verseLink\">John 16:33<\/a> &#8211; I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.<\/em><\/li><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/php.4.6\" class=\"verseLink\">Philippians 4:6<\/a> &#8211; And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Life isn&#8217;t easy. Jesus told us it wouldn&#8217;t be. Even knowing that, sometimes we just want to give up. In John, we see that we have peace in Jesus. Let&#8217;s rest in that and turn it over to him. He overcame the world, he can surely help us overcome our challenges. I love the Philippians text as each time I read it I get something else out of it. I usually read it that God is doing good things in us. Today, the second part, rang true. We can&#8217;t throw in the towel as he&#8217;s not done with us yet. We may not see what he is doing in us but it is wonderful.and for a purpose, we just need to have faith. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today has been hard. I&#8217;ve had to put myself on time out twice. I know if I try to throw in the towel God will throw it back and say, &#8220;Not yet, Sol. Keep going.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How are you feeling today? Are ready to throw it in or get back up?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Where are you at today? On top or debating throwing in the towel? Turn it over to God. Tell him your struggles and ask for help. He will answer. It may not be in the way you were expecting but be open to him. He&#8217;s not done with you yet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Father God, it&#8217;s a hard day for many of us. We want to throw in the towel as sometimes it seems this world is a dumpster fire. Please calm the fire in our heart and remind us you are working on us. Lord, it&#8217;s not time to quite but quiting seems to make it go away. Please calm our hearts, ease our minds, and grant us peace.
