Setting<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Last night, my internet started acting wonky. Some things worked, some didn’t. I began to troubleshoot the connection. First I plugged in, unplugged, researched, phoned a friend, but by bedtime, it was worse. I had completely lost my connection. Then, I woke up and kept trying to troubleshoot it. At one point, the tech support person said my equipment was broken. I tried and tried and still no solution. Then I got someone who could help. He sent out a technician and low and behold while there was a misconfiguration on my part, there was a major issue on their part. Long story short, my connection was broken, I missed it, and needed it, now it’s back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does this sound familiar? Does your connection with God ever seem broken? Maybe you are trying and trying and nothing goes through? Maybe someone is telling you that it’s your fault and you aren’t good enough. Could it be you are telling yourself that? Then after working and working, you find someone to help you with make a change that strengthens your connection. This is what the Holy Spirit is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes we feel that our connection is broken. It never is from God’s side. It is Satan telling us that our sin breaks the connection and we can never get it back. It’s Jesus forgiving us and the Holy Spirit making it happen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Colossians 2:16-23<\/a> – <\/p>\n\n\n\n

16\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore do not let anyone judge you\u00a0by what you eat or drink,\u00a0or with regard to a religious festival,\u00a0a New Moon celebration\u00a0or a Sabbath day.\u00a017\u00a0<\/sup>These are a shadow of the things that were to come;\u00a0the reality, however, is found in Christ.\u00a018\u00a0<\/sup>Do not let anyone who delights in false humility\u00a0and the worship of angels disqualify you.\u00a0Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind.\u00a019\u00a0<\/sup>They have lost connection with the head,\u00a0from whom the whole body,\u00a0supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

20\u00a0<\/sup>Since you died with Christ\u00a0to the elemental spiritual forces of this world,\u00a0why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules:\u00a021\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cDo not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!\u201d?\u00a022\u00a0<\/sup>These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish\u00a0with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings.\u00a023\u00a0<\/sup>Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility\u00a0and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The section from Colossians above is called, Freedom From Human Rules. In a nutshell it tells us not to let others judge us by human rules and what is acceptable or not. Rather to judge ourselves by how God sees us. Since we Died with Christ we need to follow him. Originally this passage was written in response to old testament laws and how many who feel if they obeyed the laws they were Godly even if their hearts were not. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does this tell us today? It means that no matter what we do, what we say, or how we’ve acted, we are still children of God and saved by Christ. Our connect is strong because of Jesus’s sacrifice. It is up to us to stop listening to what the world tells us and what Satan is trying to say and listen to our father. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just like with my internet, sometimes we need help to understand what we are thinking and connect with God. It’s not that we have to have that person, as we always have a straight connection to God, but it helps us see things more clearly. That person could be a priest, pastor, family member, or friend. You never know who that person may be. But God will help you find them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we close, don’t let anyone deter you from connecting with God. He wants to hear from you as he love you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unstable or weak connection? Ask for help. Pray to God and he will answer. Unsure about God’s word, ask a trusted source or sources. They will help you grow and learn in Jesus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Father God, we all have days when we feel out connection with you isn’t as strong as it can be. Please help us strengthen that connection. Put people in our lives who can help us follow your word and understand it better. Help us to pray more consistently. Remind us that while we are int his world, we aren’t of this world. We have a place with with and the rules and perceptions others have of us, aren’t the perceptions you have. Instill a strength in us unlike any we have known so that we can continue building our relationship with you. And Lord, when we falter, which we will, please forgive us sinner and help us get back to you. In your name, Amen. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
