She hates school, homework, and told me she is never going back to school. This all happened, mind you, because her sister earned a sucker after band and she didn&#8217;t get one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know she loves school and is just frustrated. Personally, I love and get frustrated for school, but I&#8217;m a glutton for punishment. Heck, I&#8217;m almost done with my dissertation and I&#8217;m looking at a program when I&#8217;m done. But that&#8217;s another story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So what does God tell us about school and the importance of learning?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/psa.78.4-7\" class=\"verseLink\">Psalm 78:4-7<\/a> &#8211; We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments;<\/em><\/li><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/pro.22.6\" class=\"verseLink\">Proverbs 22:6<\/a> &#8211; Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.<\/em><\/li><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/pro.13.20\" class=\"verseLink\">Proverbs 13:20<\/a> &#8211; Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm<\/em>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>School is a place to learn, build relationships, and be prepared for the world. School isn&#8217;t just our K-12, go to class (or online) that we think of. It&#8217;s not necessarily having a series of letters after your name. It&#8217;s a place of learning.  Church is a school. Life is a school. We learn lessons everyday and every hour. God wants us to teach our children how to live and love where they live, work, and play. He gave parents and guardians specific roles to ensure that our children are trained up correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we are not educated or hang out with those who aren&#8217;t educated, according to Proverbs, we will suffer harm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We need to reflect on how we are training up each up. Are we taking our duty seriously? Remember, it takes a village. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, while my daughter is done with her homework for the night, she is still grumbly and upset. School is an easy target to lash out at for her. It&#8217;s our job as parents teach her how to deal with her anger and redirect it to action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>What are you doing to &#8220;train up&#8221; the next generation? Are you sharing God&#8217;s word with them? Maybe you are teaching Sunday school or volunteering in another way. If not, get involved. Find a way to give back<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Father God, first and foremost thank you for our teachers, educators, and administrators. They don&#8217;t get the respect they deserve in most cases but give their love and admiration to our kiddos. Be with them as they navigate the crazy world we live in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus, help us to see the larger definition of the word &#8220;school&#8221;. Show is how we all can participate in teaching and training our kids to love, fear, honor, share, and respect you. Thank you for your guidance and love.
