My Plans or His Plans<\/p>\n

Today, like most days, I woke up, got showered, dressed, made lunches, dropped my daughter off at school and headed to work. I know, pretty mundane. 10 minutes of town, I received a call from my spouse that my youngest school was canceled\u00a0due to a water main\u00a0break and quite possibly daycare would be closed. I wasn’t happy as I had plans at work and things I needed to do. I turned around at the next exit and went home. I was able to do a little bit of work at home before I got the call that the water wouldn’t be turned on until the evening and daycare was closed. Well, there went that day. No more work. Nothing accomplished that I wanted to get accomplished. A detour.<\/p>\n

When I got to daycare, I had a smiling happy daughter. We went out to lunch together, talked, played, and enjoyed each other. Then we picked up her sister from school, went to the park and had a great afternoon. None of that was planned. But it was what God wanted me to do. I needed to spend more time with my children. The work I do is just that work. It has an impact on people, but the impact I have on my family is a blessing from God.<\/p>\n

Too often we think of our plans being what we need. Even as I was writing this, I was interrupted\u00a0several times to help the family do things. It made me mad, but I need to realize these days will end. Getting a faithbites\u00a0done at a certain time won’t matter. Spending time with my family will.<\/p>\n

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.” – Proverbs 16:9<\/a><\/p>\n

“\u201cFor my thoughts\u00a0are not your thoughts,
\nneither are your ways my ways,\u201d
\ndeclares the\u00a0Lord.
\n\u201cAs the heavens are higher than the earth,
\nso are my ways higher than your ways
\nand my thoughts than your thoughts.” – Isaiah 55:8-9<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten\u2014
\nthe great locust and the young locust,
\nthe other locusts and the locust swarm
\nmy great army that I sent among you.” – Joel 2:25<\/a><\/p>\n

I know we’ve talked about Proverbs 16:9<\/a> before. As our pastor says, Man proposes\u00a0and God disposes. We have examples all through the Bible with the lord saying he knows us, he has his plans, he uses us to fulfill them, and we gladly do so. The verse from Joel was new to me. The years the Locusts have eaten, will be repaid. Wow. So many times in our lives are plans are thrown off. It can be little plans or big plans. But if we stay true and fast, our faith in Jesus will be rewarded. Those locusts will die and we will be repaid.<\/p>\n

I know this isn’t easy. I still am a bit ticked for getting derailed, but there is a greater purpose than myself. I have to remember that. My friends, family, and everyone will react to me how I react to them. I need to remember that.<\/p>\n

Are you willing to see the detours in our lives as getting us back on God’s plan? Are you able to see that you have a purpose in the greater plan of life?<\/p>\n
