Today’s lesson is about the most important decision of your life. I know, you are all probably thinking that I’m going to say following Jesus is the most important decision of your life. Hold that thought for a minute or two.<\/p>\n

Our church is in a season of transition. Our senior pastor is retiring. We are voting in new leadership to the Elders and Lay Boards. We are unifying our school and church in one location. Many in our fellowship are facing uncertainty about employment. It’s a scary and impactful time. During our voter’s meeting yesterday, our pastor said something that stuck with me. He said “Voting to unify our services in one location was the most important decision we ever made. Then, the meeting we were at, he said these two choices will be the most important decision we ever make. Then the next decision will be the most important decision we ever make, and so on and so forth.<\/p>\n

We all make many decisions in our lives. Some as simple as cream and sugar in our coffee to who we are going to marry, where we will live, what we will do, what we believe in. When I think about it, these are the most important decision you will make, at least until the next one.\u00a0 You may be wondering how is each the most important decision, you will make? Doesn’t most important mean only one?<\/p>\n

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.\u201d – Deuteronomy 31:6<\/a><\/p>\n

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” – James 1:5<\/a><\/p>\n

We have so many decisions in our lives. The reason each one is the most important is each decision creates the tapestry of your life. You decide to get a\u00a0coffee in the morning, you bump into a new person, you have a conversation, it leads to a new job, etc etc. You never know. The other reason is that all of your decisions represent you. It’s not to say that getting that coffee will change your life and you have to fret about it, James says God will give to us and help us. In Deuteronomy, we are told God will never leave us or forsake us.<\/p>\n

We can make prayerful decisions and know that God will be there for us. We can make these decisions with his word, his faith, and his blessings according to scripture. We may choose wrong and be forgiven. We may choose right and be blessed. It’s a win-win. But no matter what, he is with us through all of the decisions.<\/p>\n

We started this faithbite\u00a0with the question: Is following Jesus is the most important decision of your life? Well, when I made the decision, it was. Now it is part of the tapestry of my life that influences the other ‘most important decisions of my life’. That’s the beauty of our decisions. We make good ones and our life moves forward. We make bad ones and we learn from them to make better ones. It’s an awesome choice and life we have. But we don’t have to make these decisions alone.<\/p>\n

To everyone going through whatever decisions and trials life has. Remember: think fully, pray deeply, decide boldly. God will never forsake you as you make the most important decision of your life (up to that point).<\/p>\n

Are you willing to accept that every decision is important? Can you see how your choices build the tapestry of your life? Can you believe that God is always there in all your decisions?<\/p>\n
