So we went in a walk, empties and loaded the dishwasher, took out the trash, and washed the counters. As I was doing that, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/2Q_ZzBGPdqE\" target=\"_blank\">the song Help<\/a>, from the Beatles came into my mind. Why,.you may ask? Just the night before, whole in pain, I was cooking dinner. My beast friend was telling my eldest how sometimes people don&#8217;t ask for help when they really need it. So they both helped me cook dinner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, back to the song. One of the most poignant lyrics is: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>When I was younger, so much younger than today<\/p><p>I never needed anybody&#8217;s help in any way<\/p><p>But now these days are gone, I&#8217;m not so self assured (but now these days are gone)<\/p><p>(And now I find) now I find I&#8217;ve changed my mind and opened up the doors<\/p><cite>The Beatles<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, I may have always needed help, but never thought I did. Call it machismo, call it stubbornness, or maybe I didn&#8217;t want to seem selfish by asking for help. The key here is we need help. Jesus helps us be clean (forgiveness of sins). God helps us my answering our prayers. The Holy Spirit helps us by giving us strength and faith. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/mat.7.7\" class=\"verseLink\">Matthew 7:7<\/a> &#8211; Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.\u201d<\/em><\/li><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/heb.13.6\" class=\"verseLink\">Hebrews 13:6<\/a> &#8211; So we can confidently say, \u201cThe Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?<\/em><\/li><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/jhn.14.26\" class=\"verseLink\">John 14:26<\/a> &#8211; But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>God answers our prayers. Jesus forgives our sin. The Holy Spirit teaches us and brings remembrance of Christ. These are three helpers everyone has. We just need to ask for it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, it&#8217;s hard to ask for help. If we go back to the Beatles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>And now my life has changed in oh so many ways (and now my life has changed)<\/p><p>My independence seems to vanish in the haze<\/p><p>But every now and then I feel so insecure (I know that I)<\/p><p>I know that I just need you like I&#8217;ve never done before<\/p><cite>The Beatles<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Life changes. Our ability to handle life changes. Our independence was a false independence. We aren&#8217;t made to live alone. Heck, God gave his own son to help us be with him. If that&#8217;s not help, I don&#8217;t know what is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We need Jesus like we&#8217;ve never needed him before. Then when God answers our prayers, we need to accept it. The help may not come in the form we were expecting, but we need to recognize that is God trying to help us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So tonight, when I&#8217;m making dinner, I will make sure to ask for help and take it. How about you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you need help? The answer is yes. Since you need help, how are you going to get it? Ask one person today to help you with one thing. It&#8217;s not about being strong to do it on your own. It&#8217;s about dividing burdens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Father God, we need you. We can&#8217;t and shouldn&#8217;t try to do this alone. You are our rock and strength. Jesus, help us to accept help from others. Remind us that you didn&#8217;t do this alone when on earth. You had a team to help share the message. Let us emulate you and accept help from those around us.
