We have so much more time to be with family than we normally do. (I know not everyone is able to have this time, so my heart’s full of thanks for essential workers).

The weird thing about it, is the limited me time is gone being replaced with all we time. I had a friend tell me that we time is better than me time. I don’t think one is better than the other, both are needed.

We need to make sure that we are taking sabbath rest time or the we time isn’t quality and the me dissolves completely.

Scripture

Matthew 22:39 – A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself”

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

Reflection

Two main points here. The first is in Matthew. Normally when we look at this verse we focus on treating your neighbor well. The part that is assumed is loving yourself well. Jesus doesn’t specifically call this out as it’s assumed we should take care of ourselves.

The second, and related, is that we were bought for a price. Jesus laid down his life for us to be free of skn. We are a Holy Temple paid for in blood. We can honor that by taking care of this temple.

Both of these can be helped with having quality me time. It doesn’t mean that we time is bad or to turn your back on others. As with many other subjects, it’s about balance. We can’t serve others if we are weak. We need respite to be strong and courageous to spread Jesus’s love and create disciples where we live, work, and play.

It’s not an easy thing to do. Taking time for yourself is a struggle. But if you want to have quality we time, you need to have quality me time.

Challenge

Carve out a little time for you. I can’t say how long that is as everyone needs a different amount. Schedule it on the calendar if you need to. Make it as important as your service to others. You will see you have more energy than ever before.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for creating us with a heart to serve. Many of us over do it and give everything we have. Help us to take a sabbath rest as you did. Remind us that it’s not selfish to take a little me time. Let that rest reenergize us and prepare us for whatever comes next. In your precious name, Amen.

3:180 – Me Time or We Time #faithbites #faithjourney time Quarantine life is kinda weird.
