The soundtrack was wonderful and the movie was great. Some parts were difficult to watch. At one point, Elton comes out to his mother that he is a homosexual. She admits she has known and told him he is making a choice and no one will ever love him properly. This post isn&#8217;t about homosexuality, rather about being loves properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What does that mean? Are you needs being met? Are you allowed to be who you are? Is being loved help you become a better person? Are you being challenged. This all all part of being loved properly. Human love is flawed. Jesus&#8217;s love is perfect. We can love because he loves us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/1jn.4.19\" class=\"verseLink\">1 John 4:19<\/a> &#8211; We love each other because he loved us first.<\/em><\/li><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/rom.13.8-10\" class=\"verseLink\">Romans 13:8-10<\/a> &#8211; Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, \u201cYou shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,\u201d and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: \u201cYou shall love your neighbor as yourself.\u201d Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law<\/em><\/li><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/mat.7.12\" class=\"verseLink\">Matthew 7:12<\/a> &#8211; Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>No matter Jew nor Gentile. Greek nor Jew. Skin color, religion, nationality, creed, upbringing, or anything, love all<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus wants us to love all. We can love because he loved us first. With protests all around the nation. Some advocating violence, others defending it, some against it, some drawing improper conclusions, we are divided. There are good police and bad police. Good protesters and bad rioters. There isn&#8217;t a one size fits all, except in love. Jesus is the one size for love. Let us love and work towards solutions, not towards more division. Jesus came to tear down all walls. Let&#8217;s be like him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the end of Rocketman, Elton found someone to love him properly. Let us follow the way of Jesus so we can love each other properly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Find one thing you disagree with and try to find out why the person believes that. For instance, don&#8217;t believe in the riots. Listen to the pain in their voice and why they are protesting. It doesn&#8217;t make the riots ok, but it helps you listen. Know someone who supports the police no matter what? Listen to their stories of police love and generosity. It doesn&#8217;t mean there aren&#8217;t bad police, it&#8217;s just not one size fits all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord Jesus, thank you for loving us first. Help us to be nuanced with everything going on. Let us love people and be able disagree with actions. Help us understand anger and find solutions that multiple your love and divide our burdens. We don&#8217;t know the answers to any of this, except that you know. We the. It over to your Lord.
