As a Christian, I believe in sacrifice to help all of God&#8217;s people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These days, it&#8217;s hard to balance that. On one hand, being told I have to wear a mask or can&#8217;t worship physically in a church or go out or whatever sucks. On the other hand, I know I&#8217;m not sick and am willing to give us some of my personally freedoms for societal good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For some Libertarians and others, that&#8217;s a bridge to far. The question is how to we balance the I Vs We? There isn&#8217;t an easy answer to this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As always, I turn to the Lord and ask his guidance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em>Phillipians 2:4 &#8211; Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.<\/em><\/li><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/rom.12.10\" class=\"verseLink\">Romans 12:10<\/a> &#8211; Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.<\/em><\/li><li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/1co.10.24\" class=\"verseLink\">1 Corinthians 10:24<\/a> &#8211; Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2>Reflection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of the comments I hear is &#8220;I want to..&#8221; or &#8220;I should be able to choose&#8221;.  What about the we? When does the &#8220;we&#8221; take precedence? We need to balance our needs while looking out for the needs of others. We need to outdoor one another in showing honor. Some of that is making a sacrifice. I long for in person church service. I want all that that entails. Hugging, communion, doughnuts, singing. That is what makes it church for me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In these times, seeking good for our neighbor means doing what is hard. Through in a mask. Limit trips outside. Worship online and come next week (in Illinois) in groups less than 10. This will pass. If the I takes over, this period will only grow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>What is one way you can sacrifice for others? How can you put the We before the I? Share that with us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Father God, your people long to worship together. There is a great need during this time for <a href=\"http:\/\/roberts-lieb.com\/faithbites\/2018\/04\/05\/april-5-im-hungry-for\/\">communion<\/a> and companionship. Your buildings are empty as your church is deployed. Help us realize that you have a plan for this. Be with us through our frustrations. Help us to know that we need to sacrifice for others. We don&#8217;t know when normal will return or even what to normal looks like. Give us peace, patience, and comfort.
