Part of the deal was that the girls would be responsible for him. I know it&#8217;s only day one, but my eldest has really lived up to that responsiblity. We talked about it and she said that she made a deal and it&#8217;s her responsiblity. Now I know they won&#8217;t be perfect and they will slip up, but it&#8217;s an awesome responsiblity to have a pet and they need to live up to him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also have a responsibility when we accept Jesus Christ as our personal savior. We need to love, teach, share, and help others see God through us. Just like my kids will slip up on their responsibility with Mr. Spock, we do as well. This is where the forgiveness of Jesus comes in. He makes us clean every day so we can try again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em>For each will have to bear his own load. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/gal.6.5\" class=\"verseLink\">Galatians 6:5<\/a><\/em><\/li><li><em>Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/pro.22.6\" class=\"verseLink\">Proverbs 22:6<\/a><\/em><\/li><li><em>So, dear brothers and sisters,work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/2pe.1.10\" class=\"verseLink\">2 Peter 1:10<\/a><\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>We have been given an awesome inheritance in Christ. As we&#8217;ve seen in the Scriptures, we have to bear our load, working hard to prove that we are among God&#8217;s people. That doesn&#8217;t mean just working to work. It means working to advance God&#8217;s kingdom. The wonderful thing is that you can do that where ever you work, live, or play. When you do that you are also showing (or training) others on what it means to be Christ like. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, know that you will slip and not live up to your responsibilities. It happens and we need to ask for forgiveness. We are far from perfect, but the more we are open to the Lord, the more we listen, and the more we practice, the fewer slip ups we will make.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right now I hear the kids upstairs playing with Mr. Spock. They will ask to take him out for a walk before bed and then sleep. So far so good.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you living up to your responsibility as a Christian? Is there an area that you could do better in? Try one small act of kindness to show Jesus&#8217;s love through you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord Jesus, thank you for everything you have done for us. Thank you for your power of forgiveness when we slip. Help us to live up to the responsibilities that you have given us. It is an honor to hold up your light. Be with us through all of our days as we try to make disciples and live as you would.
