While many of us have a Iist of things we have lost or given up, how many of us have a list of things we gained?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What if we looked at this quarantine \/ shelter in place as a change to gain something?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em>Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world\u2014the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions\u2014is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/1jn.2.15-17\" class=\"verseLink\">1 John 2:15-17<\/a><\/em><\/li><li><em>Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/1th.5.16-18\" class=\"verseLink\">1 Thessalonians 5:16-18<\/a><\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>I have seen so many ways people have gained rather than lost during this time. Online happy hours, connecting via video chat with long lost friends, bucket lists worked on, life, love, and friendship. I&#8217;ve seen people start writing physical letters, making masks for those who can&#8217;t get them, families trying new recipes, new faith practices and so many more opportunities to connect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sure, this isn&#8217;t what we are used to. Sure, we are locked down more than we want to be. But as an old friend said, A crisis is a terrible thing to waste. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everything is from God. He tells us to not lovely material worldly things but love him. How better to do than than pray, celebrate, and live in community with and for each other. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Simple challenge: Make a list of everything you have gained or plan on gaining through this crazy time. God has a plan for everything. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Father God, help us to see the glass as half full and not empty. Give us strength to turn away from fear and focus on how we can come together and do all those things we said we would do if we had time. Let us us this time to join together.
