Today is Ash Wednesday. This is a day when we reflect on being sinners and how we are saved by the cross, by Jesus. During service today, I realized the for the first time, the true, pure, and unadulterated love of the Lord. Through the ashes, the Lord’s Supper<\/a>, and sermon, God is our Father who wants the best for us, no matter what. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is never, ever too late. There is nothing the Lord can’t forgive. Your father, loves you, come home!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Return to the Lord your God,
    for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love;
    and he relents over disaster. – Joel 2:13<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

May these next 47 days (we count Sundays), be a time for you to return to the Lord. He is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and abounds in steadfast love. I often think, who am I to imitate Jesus? Who am I to deserve this unadulterated love? I am a child of God. Jesus died for me, for all of us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last line of the verse is hard for us to understand. As people, we often want revenge for those who have wronged us. Heck, even in the old testament God was vengeful and then realized that it wouldn’t work that way. God relents over disaster. That means he shows love, compassion, forgiveness, and Grace over destroying all of us for our sins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today is Ash Wednesday. The beginning of a season where we realize how awesome the Lord is, how forgiven we are, and return to God. Are you ready to go home?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lord Jesus, thank you for the cross. Thank you for loving us no matter what we are or who we are. You, like the story of the Prodigal son, always want us to return home. Help us to break the chains of sin, guilt, and denial. Illuminate the path for us to return to you. We are in awe of you. We love you. Amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
