We looked at different languages and tried different foods. The girls had star fruit, dragon fruit, sushi rolls (seaweed, rice, spam), pineapple, and avocado a some girls dove right it, while others were afraid. My youngest only tried the star fruit after first saying it would be gross. She ended up really liking it. She enjoyed it and wants more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are often scared to try something new for many reasons. Fear it may be bad. Fear that it may change our life in such a way we can&#8217;t go back to what we know or what is comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting or continuing our faith journey can be scary as we become a new creation in Christ. But if you try it, you may just find that you love it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em>And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/ezk.36.26\" class=\"verseLink\">Ezekiel 36:26<\/a><\/em><\/li><li><em>Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/isa.43.19\" class=\"verseLink\">Isaiah 43:19<\/a><\/em><\/li><li><em>Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/2co.5.17\" class=\"verseLink\">2 Corinthians 5:17<\/a><\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>In Genesis, we see God make a new thing in the creation of everything. Ezekiel, shows how he can heal our hearts and make it new. Isaiah is laying the groundwork for Jesus in showing that God is going to try something new in that Jesus is coming. Finally, in 2 Corinthians, we see that when we accept Jesus Christ, we become new. The old is gone. We have nothing to fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s amazing to know that we can be healed and become new in Jesus. It can be scary to give up everything we know about how to live to accept a life in Christ. When we believe, we see that it is more beautiful than we can imagine. God takes care of us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kids think it&#8217;s scary to try a new exotic fruit because it will be bad. But they liked it. The worst that could happen is it was gross and they have a drink and move on. In faith, we have everything to gain and everything to lose. If we don&#8217;t accept Christ, we have no salvation. It&#8217;s not a threat as making the choice of Jesus, is good for us. So try it and you will see what living in Christ is like. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>What does it mean to try something new? How can you live in Christ. Write one new thing you can do. Small changes can have big rewards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord, thank you for giving us free will. You also give us the drive for self preservation. In some cases, like trying a new food, we may be scared. Other times, it could prevent us from making the changes we need to. Help us to try something new in Christ and live fully in him. Help us to stick with it, even though it is hard. We love you and give you all the glory.
