Differing Opinions Are Ok.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>#faithbites #faithjourney opinions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other day, we talked about how <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"facts are indisputable.  (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/roberts-lieb.com\/faithbites\/2020\/01\/25\/jan-25-facts-are-important\/\" target=\"_blank\">facts are indisputable. <\/a> Today after a few conversations, I looked up the definitions of fact and opinion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Fact<\/strong> &#8211; a thing that is known or proved to be true.<\/li><li><strong>Opinion<\/strong> &#8211; a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>An opinion can turn into fact with research. A fact can be disproved with research. An opinion can&#8217;t turn into fact without research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we discuss, we need to make sure that we are are debating fact or opinion.  Everyone is entitled to an opinion and that may be a right or wrong opinion.  When we try to pass of opinion as fact, that is when we have troubles in our earthy and spiritual lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em>As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/rom.14.1\" class=\"verseLink\">Romans 14:1<\/a><\/em><\/li><li><em>For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. &#8211; Galations 1:10<\/em><\/li><li><em>A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/pro.18.2\" class=\"verseLink\">Proverbs 18:2<\/a><\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection <\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>We are to try to understand each other and God&#8217;s words (the facts). When we share our opinions over fact, we are being fools. Having an opinion is good and it helps us discuss. But part of that is trying to learn and seek the truth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we lose the facts and look to opinions as facts, we cease following God but instead seek the approval of man. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God&#8217;s truth can be hard to follow at times, but just like any rules, they are meant to protect us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I try not to confuse my opinions with facts, but I do make mistakes. But then I listen,  learn, and apologize. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imagine if we spent time growing, living on facts, and not confusing fact with opinion. What a world this would be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you sharing fact or opinion? Are you clear which one you are are sharing? Take this time to reflect on your words and how you challenge. Debate opinions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord, thank you for all the gifts you give us. Thank you for forgiving us when we err. Lord, we are confused. Help us to know fact from opinion. Let us challenge each other respectfully and kindly as we grow together.  Thank you Lord.
