Today’s lesson is about perspective. More than that it is how you can look at one thing and see it from many different points of view.<\/p>\n

When my youngest was just 28 days old, she needed a lumbar puncture to check for meningitis\u00a0and sepsis. I wanted to be in the procedure room with her. I took my seat and sat on the side of the doctors, rather than the nurses. I didn’t know that when I took my seat. When I saw the doctors working, and my daughters back, I didn’t see my daughter getting worked on. I saw the doctors performing a procedure with precision. Their skill working as a team, gently, caringly, efficiently, and effectively, was an outstanding\u00a0site to behold. And yes, I knew she was in good hands, so I didn’t worry as much. Maybe I was sleep deprived or numb, but I liked to see the process.<\/p>\n

Today, I have restoration people working in my house due to mold and a leak in the bathroom. While part of me is in shock seeing the bathrooms being torn up, the other part is like a kid with wonder in his eyes. Seeing them pull up the floor to find out what is underneath is awesome. Seeing them cut holes in the ceiling to see what is up there is very interesting to me.\u00a0 Yes, I’m worried. Yes, I’m trying to make everything make sense in my head, but seeing it through those eyes makes me stronger and gives a better perspective to me.<\/p>\n

God is very much like that. We have human eyes, but if we try to see things from his perspective, we become more Christ-Like.<\/p>\n

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” – 2 Corinthians 4:18<\/a><\/p>\n

“Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law” – Psalm 119:18<\/a><\/p>\n

“Wow to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight” – Isaiah 5:21<\/a><\/p>\n

\n

Looking towards what is eternal, what is unseen. That is what we should be doing. We should be looking at how God sees things. I know that my bathroom will be fixed and it will look great. I knew my daughter was under great care and the procedure was ok. In life, we often think about the world throughout own eyes. That person is evil. They don’t believe in God. They aren’t doing it, whatever it is, right. If they are for this, then they are against that.\u00a0 We are to look at the world with God’s eyes. What would he see? Moreover, how would he want us to behave? I believe, as Jesus told us, he wants us to love him and love each other. We can disagree on process\u00a0and policy, but still, love each other as people.<\/p>\n

Are you willing to look at life with God’s eyes? Are you able to look past what is said and to find what is unsaid? Are you willing to listen to God’s voice and not your own?<\/p>\n
