The premise is that if you knew you had an inheritance coming to you, would you act differently? Maybe differently to the person who was giving it or possibly just to the world in general. If you knew you had 100 million dollars coming in an inheritance, how would it change your life? You don&#8217;t know when you will get it but you will get it. I know for me, I would be much more generous today with my time, money, and energy as I know I would be getting my inheritance at some point. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As children of God, we have the ultimate inheritance. We will want for nothing, we will live eternal, we will be reunited with all those who went before us and we will be in the presence of our Lord with no pain, no suffering, and eternal joy. That&#8217;s a place I want to be in. But sometimes the wait is hard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So are you acting like a child of the Lord who will receive all of these things? Are you helping others to find Jesus to receive this as well? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em>In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.  &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/eph.1.11-14\" class=\"verseLink\">Ephesians 1:11-14<\/a><\/em><\/li><li><em>Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/col.3.23-24\" class=\"verseLink\">Colossians 3:23-24<\/a><\/em><\/li><li><em> And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/act.20.32\" class=\"verseLink\">Acts 20:32<\/a><\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>We have been chosen by God to be in his family and have an inheritance. We don&#8217;t need to do anything to receive that except accept the Lord and ask for his forgiveness. Now, we want to work heartily for the Lord because we love him. We don&#8217;t have to do the work, but we want to as we want to be like him. My favorite part of this is the Act&#8217;s verses. We are commended to God and it is there to build us up and give us his inheritance. That&#8217;s pretty awesome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So now, it&#8217;s on us. What are we waiting for? Maybe it&#8217;s for the clock to strike 12:00 AM on 01\/01\/2020. Maybe it&#8217;s waiting for a sign from God to start. Whatever you are waiting for, don&#8217;t. Take today to begin acting like a Child of the Lord who has everything as their inheritance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Forget about resolutions that are lost after a few days. What is one thing you are currently doing or willing to start that shows you are one worthy of your inheritance? It doesn&#8217;t have to be a major life change, just one small step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Heavenly Father, we are impatient. We want everything and don&#8217;t want to wait. That anticipation is maddening. Remind us that we are your children and will receive the ultimate inheritance. Help us to act like those deserving of that reward, even though we know works don&#8217;t bring salvation. Be with as we try new things to show that we are your children and that we want to please you. Thank you, Lord, for always forgiving us and helping us grow.
