Show Service!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5>2:324 &#8211; Want Service? Show Service!<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>#faithbites #faithjourney Service<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, I dropped my kids off at morning care. We saw their principal, with a busted foot, setting up chairs for chapel. This is well over 200 chairs, mind you. I asked what was going on. He told me the janitor has a sick child and wasn&#8217;t able to be there. I asked to help and started working. Without prompting or even saying anything, my kids saw me working, and started picking up chairs. My almost 9 year old and my 5 year old picking up chairs and setting them out.\u00a0Then the morning care instructor came over to help and more kids came over. This was true service.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We often say practice what you preach or actions speak louder than words.\u00a0 Our friends, neighbors,\u00a0 children, and everyone around you, watch what you do. You may not know the impact you&#8217;ve had on others until you see their actions,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember if you want others to have a servants-heart, you need to show a servants heart. Luckily, we have a perfect example to follow.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em>In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said:\u00a0\u2018It is more blessed to give than to receive.\u2019\u00a0\u201d &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/act.20.35\" class=\"verseLink\">Acts 20:35<\/a><\/em><\/li><li><em> You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh\u00a0; rather, serve one another humbly in love. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/gal.5.13\" class=\"verseLink\">Galatians 5:13<\/a><\/em><\/li><li><em> Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said,\u00a0\u201cAnyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.\u201d  &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/mrk.9.35\" class=\"verseLink\">Mark 9:35<\/a><\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Serving others and bringing them salvation is the epitome of Jesus Christ. We are judged by how we treat others. Service shouldn&#8217;t be something that we have to plan or do, but we just do. It&#8217;s part of our nature. Jesus&#8217;s ministry was invitation (be with him) and challenge (serve others). When we act like him, we are posed to help more people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I picked my kids up from school, I let them pick out a treat at the gas station. I asked what it was for and they said for being good. I said no. It was for showing your heart and serving God. I tried not to link reward to service, but at that age, it&#8217;s ok a little. I praised them up and down not only for service but doing it on their own. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we want to create disciples, we need servant leaders. If we need servant leaders, we have to act like that. Service doesn&#8217;t have to be a big thing. 20 minutes to setup chairs, can change the direction of someone&#8217;s life. Let us be examples like Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Be of Service. It doesn&#8217;t matter how, how long, or how involved. You giving unselfishly of your time and energy will not only help the person who are serving, but serve as an example for those around you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord, thank you for open servant hearts. Seeing our children follow your example helps us know that we are doing right by following you. let our works be a reflection not of us, but of your grace and glory. Serving is at the heart of your ministry, let us be faithful followers. When we don&#8217;t serve, forgive us four our selfishness, and help us serve better.
