Other days, as my dad used to say, your get up and go and got up and left. Today, was one of those days. Nothing specific, just hard to get going. sure, I did was I needed to do at work and home, but just not with as much pep as I&#8217;d like to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s easy to be motivated when there is a reward in site. Maybe it&#8217;s a game, a car, a vacation, or food. It&#8217;s harder when the reward is not concrete or far away. As Christians, we know that our ultimate reward is spending eternity with Jesus. As humans, it&#8217;s hard to balance that with our human desires. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li> Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/1co.15.58\" class=\"verseLink\">1 Corinthians 15:58<\/a><\/li><li> So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/2co.4.16-18\" class=\"verseLink\">2 Corinthians 4:16-18<\/a><\/li><li> \u201cDo not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,\u00a0where moths and vermin destroy,\u00a0and where thieves break in and steal.\u00a0<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,\u00a0where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/mat.6.19-20\" class=\"verseLink\">Matthew 6:19-20<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>All of this will be worth it in the end. We will have our reward with Christ Jesus.  The world, shows us that we need everything now. The funny thing is that no matter how much stuff we have, it never <a href=\"http:\/\/roberts-lieb.com\/faithbites\/2019\/03\/06\/march-6-whats-in-your-godhole\/\">fills our God hole.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The physical is wasting away: our bodies, our goods, our treasures. One day they will go back to the dust whence they came. Does that mean our work is naught? Of course not. When we live, we speak life into our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. We speak life into everyone around us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sure, that doesn&#8217;t help when your phone breaks or when you don&#8217;t have the thing you wanted. What does help is things you thought were physically important as kid are no longer important now. As you age, you will see less of that being important. What remains, what should serve as our motivation is the love we have from Christ and the love of each other. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How will you stay motivated when things are hard?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Staying motivated isn&#8217;t easy. What will you do to set your eyes on the true prize? What milestones are you setting for yourself to keep you on track? Make sure to reach out for prayer, guidance, and surround yourself by those who will speak life into you and help you always.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord, this world throws false motivators at us all the time. Things that will rust and decay are shoved as us. It&#8217;s worse when we don&#8217;t have the means to have those things. Help us stay motivated through you and your promises always. It&#8217;s not easy to live in this world and the next. Give us your strength, compassion, and forgiveness as we struggle, fail, and walk down your path. We love you Lord. We give you all the Glory. May you answer our prayers in your way and in your time.
