It happens to me all the time, especially on social media. Then someone gave me the brilliant advice that while you may not change the mind of the person you are debating, you may change the heart and mind of others observing.<\/p>\n<p>Our actions while directed at one person impact many other lives. We never know to what extent this happens. When we share our relationship and life of Christ with others, we may not change their mind but others are watching, learning, and contemplating.<\/p>\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color:rgb(0,0,0); font-family:Corbel,Verdana,sans-serif; font-size:medium; font-style:normal; font-variant-ligatures:normal; font-variant-caps:normal; font-weight:400; letter-spacing:normal; orphans:2text-indent:0px; text-transform:none; white-space:normal; widows:2; word-spacing:0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width:0px; background-color:rgb(255,255,255); text-decoration-style:initial; text-decoration-color:initial; display:inline!important; float:none; text-align:left;\">And he said to them, \u201cGo into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.<\/span>&#8221; &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/mrk.16.15\" class=\"verseLink\">Mark 16:15<\/a><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:rgb(0,0,0); font-family:Corbel,Verdana,sans-serif; font-size:medium; font-style:normal; font-variant-ligatures:normal; font-variant-caps:normal; font-weight:400; letter-spacing:normal; orphans:2text-indent:0px; text-transform:none; white-space:normal; widows:2; word-spacing:0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width:0px; background-color:rgb(255,255,255); text-decoration-style:initial; text-decoration-color:initial; display:inline!important; float:none; text-align:left;\">Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.<\/span> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/1pe.2.16\" class=\"verseLink\">1 Peter 2:16<\/a><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:rgb(0,0,0); font-family:Corbel,Verdana,sans-serif; font-size:medium; font-style:normal; font-variant-ligatures:normal; font-variant-caps:normal; font-weight:400; letter-spacing:normal; orphans:2text-indent:0px; text-transform:none; white-space:normal; widows:2; word-spacing:0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width:0px; background-color:rgb(255,255,255); text-decoration-style:initial; text-decoration-color:initial; display:inline!important; float:none; text-align:left;\">For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.<\/span> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/jhn.13.15\" class=\"verseLink\">John 13:15<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n<p>God works in mysterious ways. We have no control over how others take our words or what they do with them. We are charged to proclaim the Gospel as be living servants of Jesus, his example<\/p>\n<p>We do this in how we walk, talk, act, and live. Often, we get sidetracked on trying to influence of change one person&#8217;s mind. Remember there are many others listening and watching. You may never know how your words have changed them, but they have an impact. It&#8217;s hard when we don&#8217;t see the direct impact of our work or know that what we&#8217;ve done has helped. We have faith that all things will work according to his plan.<\/p>\n<h5>Challenge<\/h5>\n<p>Next time you get into a debate or are sharing God, remember the other people around. You are influencing them more than you know.<\/p>\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n<p>Lord, we strive to be your servants in all we do. Sometimes we get hung up on changing people&#8217;s minds. Remind us that even if we aren&#8217;t effective with one person, there are many others around who are listening. Give us the words and tact to always be your examples of love and forgiveness.
