Sometimes that includes thinking too highly of ourselves and then boom, lesson in humilty.<\/p>\n<p>A friend of mine was upset about how someone was treating her and responded in kind. Later that night, she was reading her son a book about the Golden rule, and he asked her about it. Humilty Lesson.<\/p>\n<p>I try not to scream or yell at my kids. But sometimes, I just lose it. They forgive me, but then t feel bad. Today, I saw them treating each other that way. Boom. Lesson in humilty.<\/p>\n<p>We all have these. It doesn&#8217;t mean we are bad people. It means we are sinners and can be forgiven. It also tells us that even if our kids or others don&#8217;t say anything, they are watching.<\/p>\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color:rgb(51,51,51); font-family:helvetica,arial; font-size:16.9px; font-style:normal; font-variant-ligatures:normal; font-variant-caps:normal; font-weight:400; letter-spacing:normal; orphans:2text-indent:0px; text-transform:none; white-space:normal; widows:2; word-spacing:0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width:0px; background-color:rgb(255,255,255); text-decoration-style:initial; text-decoration-color:initial; display:inline!important; float:none; text-align:left;\">Therefore, as God\u2019s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience<\/span> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/col.3.12\" class=\"verseLink\">Colossians 3:12<\/a><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:rgb(51,51,51); font-family:helvetica,arial; font-size:16.9px; font-style:normal; font-variant-ligatures:normal; font-variant-caps:normal; font-weight:400; letter-spacing:normal; orphans:2text-indent:0px; text-transform:none; white-space:normal; widows:2; word-spacing:0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width:0px; background-color:rgb(255,255,255); text-decoration-style:initial; text-decoration-color:initial; display:inline!important; float:none; text-align:left;\">But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: \u201cGod opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.\u201d<\/span> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/jas.4.6\" class=\"verseLink\">James 4:6<\/a><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:rgb(51,51,51); font-family:helvetica,arial; font-size:16.9px; font-style:normal; font-variant-ligatures:normal; font-variant-caps:normal; font-weight:400; letter-spacing:normal; orphans:2text-indent:0px; text-transform:none; white-space:normal; widows:2; word-spacing:0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width:0px; background-color:rgb(255,255,255); text-decoration-style:initial; text-decoration-color:initial; display:inline!important; float:none; text-align:left;\">if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.<\/span> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/2ch.7.14\" class=\"verseLink\">2 Chronicles 7:14<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n<p>We are told to clothe ourselves in humilty. Why is that? It&#8217;s the opposite of being proud or even having hubris. Most of us don&#8217;t think we are proud, but sometimes we need that smack to remind us we are no better than other, that we can learn.<\/p>\n<p>We see in both the old and new Testaments, that God abhors pride and welcome humilty. Even to the point of complete forgiveness and healing in the land.<\/p>\n<p>I know that I can&#8217;t forgive like that, those I hope to learn.<\/p>\n<p>We always have eyes watching us, even when we don&#8217;t see how our actions impact each other. These moments are gifts. They allow us to reflect on our behavior, refine how we behave, and remind us to seek forgiveness.<\/p>\n<h5>Charge<\/h5>\n<p>Recognize these moments of humility. It&#8217;s not time to run and hide but rather, give thanks. It&#8217;s time for us to realize we aren&#8217;t perfect, we make mistakes, and we can be forgiven. Being humbled is a gift. Accept it and use it to remember what&#8217;s important.<\/p>\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n<p>Heavenly Father, forgive us for being prideful. We thank you for your give of these moments of humility. While we don&#8217;t like them when they are happening, it serves as a correction and a reminder. You are always present and always trying to help us. For this and all the things you give us, we thank you. Help us in being true to your word always.
