At the end of the sessions, I asked them what questions or fears they may have.<\/p>\n<p>A common refrain was &#8220;what if I teach something wrong&#8221;? My response was, you will. You will mess up. You will get it wrong. It&#8217;s ok. Tell you students you got it wrong, explain what happened and move on. You get better.<\/p>\n<p>Following Christ is the same way. We screw up how we interpret his word. We make mistakes following him. That is why we have a God of love and forgiveness. We admit we messed up, ask for forgiveness, and get another change. Jesus was sent to die for our sins. If we hide our sins we will not succeed. When we announce our sins, we are forgiven.<\/p>\n<p>Teaching is no different. You have to admit to those you teach or lead, that you got it wrong. There is no shame in learning when you are wrong. We need to get over our pride and accept God&#8217;s grace and the grace of others.<\/p>\n<h5>Charge<\/h5>\n<p>Lead and teach. Make mistakes. Admit your mistakes and be forgiven. It&#8217;s hard to admit it, but you will see forgiveness and understanding from those you lead.<\/p>\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n<p>Heavenly Lord, help us to be humble when we mess up. Let us announce when we do something wrong and be forgiven. Remind us that we are all sinners and no one is perfect except for Jesus. When we humble ourselves, we grow in faith and as followers of Christ. Thank you Lord Jesus.
