A President, A manager, a boss? When someone asks who is an example of a great performer, maybe you point to Taylor Swift, Queen, The Beatles. How about a good example of a teacher? You probably have a long list. I have Mr. shertz Mr. weirsum, and Mrs Seibeck, to name a few.<\/p>\n<p>What about when someone asks for an example of a good Christian? Do you point to friends in church? People in the media? Who is your example?<\/p>\n<p>What if I told you the only example of a good Christian, is Jesus? How would Jesus, the church, and our world be different if we pointed to Christ instead of ourselves?<\/p>\n<h5>Scripture<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Compassion &#8211; When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/mat.9.36\" class=\"verseLink\">Matthew 9:36<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Servant &#8211; <span style=\"color: #000000;\">For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> and to give his life as a ransom for many.\u201d<\/span> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/mrk.10.45\" class=\"verseLink\">Mark 10:45<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Forgiving &#8211; <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jesus said, <\/span><span class=\"woj\" style=\"-webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased; color: #000000;\">\u201cFather, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.<\/span> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/luk.23.34\" class=\"verseLink\">Luke 23:34<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Reflection<\/h5>\n<p>Here are a few more traits: loving, humble, determined, having self-control, patient, gentle,committed, prayerful. Jesus has these and more.<\/p>\n<p>We try to emulate these but we aren&#8217;t great at it. We are not Good, and imperfect. Jesus is perfect.<\/p>\n<p>If we shine the light on Christ, instead of ourselves, people would have a better understanding of what a Good Christian is<\/p>\n<p>And how do they know Jesus? We a piece of him through our actions but the Word of the Lord is his Testament. Share his word and how he has worked in your life. Then they will see a good Christian.<\/p>\n<p>And no, I&#8217;m far from it. But I do my best each day to listen to him and try to be more Christ-like everyday.<\/p>\n<h5>Charge<\/h5>\n<p>Point the light to Christ. Share his Words (#RedLetterChallenge) and his actions in you life. Then others will see who Jesus is and who they should be emulating.<\/p>\n<h5>Prayer<\/h5>\n<p>Jesus, than you for being a perfect example. We often talk about our deeds and works. That this how a a good Christian lives. We know that we are far from good. But through your grace, we are forgiven for falling short. Help us always to point the light to you. Let the Holy Spirit guides us to you and others to build their faith through the one true example, Jesus.
