Today’s lesson is on parenting.<\/p>\n

Let’s face it. We all have opinions when it comes to parenting. We have all given or been given advice on how to parent. Some we listen to, some we let go, some we chuckle at, and some it ticks us off.<\/p>\n

Today as we were walking around the St Louis Children’s Museum, I saw good parenting and bad. (Again, my opinion). I was cut off when walking so many times by kids and then their parents would do it without looking or apologizing. Then in the pool, we saw many parents enjoying their free booze and their kids were running amuck jumping in the hit tub, getting into deep water where they can’t swim and more. It ticked me off. I hate when people don’t parent their children. Then I think about my parenting. Do people see me when I yell? Do people see when I’m looking at my phone and not 100% on my kids. Do they see when my kids look afraid or said when I tell them off? Yes…and then the realization. I can be ad bad of a parent as I see. I shouldn’t judge their skills as I’m not in their shoes. There should be a common level of parenting in public, but I don’t know what that is.<\/p>\n

But our father, tells us how to parent and how he parents us.<\/p>\n

“Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children.\u00a0For what children are not disciplined by their father?If you are not disciplined\u2014and everyone undergoes discipline\u2014then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits\u00a0and live! They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace\u00a0for those who have been trained by it.- Hebrews 12:7-11<\/a><\/p>\n

“Start children off on the way they should go,<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” – Proverbs 22:6<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Wow, pretty powerful stuff. We have receiving discipline, just as our kids do. Discipline though produces a righteous harvest and legitimizes us. Those who have not been disciplined aren’t disciplined nor receive righteousness. How God tells us to live is an example of this. It may be hard and we may, like little children fight against it, but if we listen to him and follow his ways, wr can live the way he wants us to making our lives easier.<\/p>\n

So to those kids getting away with murder listen to your parents. Those parents letting your kids get away with murder, and I do that sometimes, you aren’t helping them in the long run.<\/p>\n

Are you willing to view how others parent with open eyes? Are you willing to see that like a child, we dislike His discipline, but need it to love fuller and happier lives?<\/p>\n
