Today’s lesson is about being sick. We have all been sick. The sneezing, watery eyes, coughing, can’t breathe, headache. body ache, fever, etc etc. That is how I’m feeling today. Keeping my eyes open and doing anything hurts. Breathing hurts. When I think about being sick, I also think, I am not alone. There are many in the world who are much sicker than I. I have it easy compared to them. I can take some medication, take a day or two off work, rest, eat healthy food, and feel better. I should remember that. At the same time though, it is ok to be sick. It is ok to know that your sickness or illness is affecting your ability to be you and to serve. Both things can be true. You can recognize you don’t feel well and have empathy for those in much worse condition than you. For me, this cold is temporary, for others, their health battles are a lifelong struggle.<\/p>\n

“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” – 3 John 2<\/p>\n

We have physical and mental sickness.\u00a0 The Lord wants us to be well. But our wellness goes beyond physical and mental well being. We need spiritual healing. Most of the scriptures tell us Worship the Lord and he will heal you. As John says, I pray you enjoy good health and your soul is getting along well. These two go hand in hand. At the same time I believe that God takes away the sickness, we have our part to do. We need to go to the doctors and take the medicines and do what God has given us to be healthy. There is no perfect answer to this. There are people in my life who have horrible lifelong diseases through no fault of their own. I know God loves them and takes care of them.\u00a0 But as we take care of our physical and mental sickness, remember your spiritual\u00a0sickness. Talk to God. Read the Bible. It helps.<\/p>\n

I know I am saved and will get better. My soul is always getting better as I listen to God. Now, to rest and hope those meds kick in soon.<\/p>\n

Are you willing to acknowledge your physical sickness and those of others? Are you willing to believe that you can be sick and appreciate others sicknesses at the same time? Are you will to turn it over to God and listen to him?<\/p>\n
