It makes us think we have to be perfect to be a great parent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, while listening to Known Legacy Podcast, I learned a new swear word: The Christian F Word: FINE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are broken, imperfect, and not great as we are sinful. The thing is, our kids don&#8217;t need us to be perfect parents. Being as ok as we can is what they need. We need to show that we too are broken and sinful, needing the strength and forgiveness of Jesus to succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Scripture<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The thief&#8217;s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/jhn.10.10\" class=\"verseLink\">John 10:10<\/a> (NLT)<\/li><li>If we claim to be without sin,\u00a0we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.\u00a0If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins\u00a0and purify us from all unrighteousness.<sup>\u00a0<\/sup>If we claim we have not sinned,\u00a0we make him out to be a liar\u00a0and his word is not in us. <a href=\"https:\/\/my.bible.com\/111\/1jn.1.8-10\" class=\"verseLink\">1 John 1:8-10<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4>Reflection<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s the thing, the devil and the world make us feel that we have to strive for perfection. We will never be perfect and striving to be perfect leads us to failure and self doubt. That&#8217;s the thing trying to kill and destroy our relationships with Jesus and each other. Now, if we announce our sins, acknowledge them and seek forgiveness, then the thief loses. Our families see the real us and know that we aren&#8217;t the rescuer. Jesus is the only rescuer, our job is to help people find Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will never be the World&#8217;s Greatest Dad, and I&#8217;m ok with that. I am also never going to be fine. There are good days and bad, along with mixes of both each day. Ignoring the bad or putting on a face doesn&#8217;t help anyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The struggle is not listening to the thief, instead believing and knowing that God&#8217;s word is true. If it&#8217;s true, then we don&#8217;t have to be perfect and we are forgiven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Charge<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you trying to be perfect? Maybe you are hiding your faults hoping they will go away. Speak them to the Lord and ask Him for help. He will rescue you, heal you, and improve your relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Prayer<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Heavenly Father, thank you for being part of a community that can lean on each other in our brokenness. Help us to realize that we don&#8217;t have to strive for perfection and being the world&#8217;s Okayest is good enough. Remind us you are there to rescue us and help us be the people you want us to be. We are not FINE, but through you, we are made perfect.
